The Wedding Present has just released a third collection of recordings that the David Gedge-led band made for Marc Riley’s show on BBC radio, and the group is promoting the collection with a cover of the theme for the 1967 James Bond film “You Only Live Twice.”
The track, which you can stream below, is one of nine compiled on Marc Riley Sessions Volume 3, which was released on Friday. The songs were recorded at a pair of BBC sessions in 2015 and 2016.
Of the Bond theme, Gedge says:
“I’ve always been fond of recording cover versions and there a couple of great ones on this LP. In 2015 we had a go at John Barry and Leslie Bricusse’s ‘You Only Live Twice’ — and enjoyed it so much that I’m now planning a compilation of Bond covers to be released on my label.”
