My Bloody Valentine sets first U.S. tour in 5 years around FYF Fest appearance

My Bloody Valentine today announced a short U.S. tour around its previously confirmed appearance at FYF Fest in Los Angeles this July, a six-date run of shows that will include stops in Seattle, Oakland, Calif., St. Paul, Minn., Chicago, Philadelphia and New York City.

Tickets for all of those shows go on sale Friday.

The short U.S. tour comes as Kevin Shields, the shoegaze act’s mastermind, is rumored to be working on a new MBV album.  Shields’s official bio on an Icelandic music festival’s website says he’s “working on material for a new My Bloody Valentine album to be released in 2018.”

Our MBV Watch feature was born in 2009 to track the oft-delayed release of Shields’ CD remasters of Isn’t Anything and Loveless (they finally came out in 2012), and it went on to chronicle the relatively short ramp-up to the release of mbv, the 22-years-in-the-making follow-up to Loveless.

My Bloody Valentine tour dates:

July 17: Paramount Theatre, Seattle, WA
July 19: Fox Theatre, Oakland, CA
July 22: FYF Fest, Los Angeles, CA
July 25: Palace Theatre, St. Paul, MN
July 27: Riviera Theatre, Chicago, IL
July 30: The Fillmore, Philadelphia, PA
Aug. 1: Hammerstein Ballroom, New York, NY

  1. FYI fest was cancelled. Dare I hope MBV add a non festival appearance in LA to the short tour?
