The Church’s Steve Kilbey is embarking on a month-long tour of the western U.S. this week with pianist Amanda Kramer, performing at offbeat venues (“I’m coming to some strange, weird, small place near you,” he says) and promising a wide swath of material from across his career.
Kilbey and Kramer — who has played keyboards in Information Society, The Golden Palominos, World Party, The Psychedelic Furs and more — open the tour tonight with a rehearsal in Los Angeles that up to 15 fans can attend, then proceed to play shows in California, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Idaho, Oregon and Washington (see full dates below).
An Austin, Texas, gig in the works, too, Kilbey acknowledged on Twitter.
The concerts are planned for more nontraditional venues, including breweries, studios, a cycling shop, wineries and a museum, along with several private house concerts.
Ticketing information for all dates is available at Eventbrite.
In a short video promoting the tour, Kilbey promises the duo will perform “some of my songs, some of The Church’s songs, some hits, some misses, some weird covers, some lovely covers. We’re gonna jam, we’re gonna reminisce. It’s going to be a great night.”

Highly recommend these type of intimate gigs with Steve Kilbey. Very chilled way of experiencing his amazing talent up close!
Here’s hoping they throw in a Kramer-era Golden Palominos song, like The Haunting.
Steve: I love your music. Love it. Since Hey Day. Would you consider playing at Gig Harbor Audio? It is the coolest hi-fi shop in the country (we think). We have shows once every couple months.
