Having taken their name from a New Order video, The Killers have, not surprisingly, shown a predilection toward covering songs by classic alternative acts, including Joy Division, The Smiths, Morrissey and, of course, New Order. Now comes the band’s on-stage homage to The Cure.
In Salt Lake City last week, frontman Brandon Flowers told the audience about the cassettes his older brother used to pass down to him: The Smiths, Depeche Mode, New Order, Pet Shop Boys. And The Cure. Furthrmore, Flowers told the audience, his very first concert was seeing The Cure at that very arena.
“It was wonderful and I had a wonderful experience. And they played this song called ‘Push,’ and I was converted, I was officially concerted and baptized by this song ‘Push.'”
And with that, The Killers played the Head on the Door track. Watch the intro and performance below.

‘Push’ has always been a top Cure song by my measurements. Hats off to The Killers for a fine cover.
“Push” was the one song I played when I picked out my Polk speakers at a stereo warehouse back In the day.
Hey, I was at that show! Not the Killers, but that Cure show – Salt Lake City 1996: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/the-cure/1996/delta-center-salt-lake-city-ut-73d7eacd.html
I was pretty jazzed that they played Push at that 1996 show, because it’s always been one of my favorites.
I was the Killers show and Push was so awesome as was Brandon’s intro.
