Simple Minds and The Pretenders — long-running ’80s hitmakers fronted by former husband-and-wife Jim Kerr and Chrissie Hynde, respectively — will pair up next summer for a joint 13-date U.K. tour spotlighting each group’s new work and classic catalog.
The Grandslam 18 tour will find the two veteran acts supported by KT Tunstall, from early August through early September, largely on weekends — and with the co-headliners playing separate shows in Leeds on Aug. 3 and 11. Tickets for all of the concerts are scheduled to go on sale Wednesday.
Simple Minds recently announced plans to release a new album called Walk Between Worlds in February, while The Pretenders this past September released an expanded edition of their 2016 record Alone that features a bonus disc full of live material recorded while the band toured earlier this year.
Simple Minds and The Pretenders played back-to-back on the Philadelphia stage of Live Aid in 1985; the year before, Kerr and Hynde were joined in a marriage that would last until 1990 and produced a daughter.
