Morrissey announces 18-date U.S. tour — including New York City show with Blondie

Morrissey

Morrissey tonight announced that he will return to the U.S. this June and July to continue promoting his withdrawn album World Peace Is None of Your Business with a new 18-date tour of theaters, arenas and amphitheaters, a trek that includes a stop at Madison Square Garden in New York City that will be opened by New Wave legends Blondie.

The trek, which follows five sold-out shows at the Sydney Opera House, opens June 11 in New Orleans, and includes a previously announced festival date in Delaware as well as stops at renowned venues including the Grand Ole Opry and Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The tour wraps up July 25 in San Jose, Calif.

The tour announcement comes amid rumors that World Peace Is None of Your Business will be re-released, along with a new studio album.

Place yer bets! Place yer bets!

Here’s hoping the “World Peace…” re-release comes in a super deluxe edition with one of those groovy “Harvest” t-shirts. Or at least give us the chance to score one at the show’s merch table.

I’ll believe this when he cancels it!

  5. steinomite

And how many of these dates will be cancelled?

  6. I was hoping for an LA show so I could buy tickets, the promoter could hold onto my money for several months and then give it all back to me when Morrissey cancels the show.

  7. Bloomington/Normal?! Could he actually draw a crowd there?

  8. No Boston????!!!!

  9. I was shafted FOUR times in Flint, MI. Moz said, “Equally, I am determined to play Flint (Michigan) if it kills me (which, on the face of it, it almost has.)”

    • So, maybe he’ll come back after this tour? Maybe? Yeah, right. You’re full of it, Moz, just as full of it as the people you call out in your songs.

  10. What’s the spread? I’d like to put a heavy bet on “show cut short in Durham” and “show canceled in Akron”. Add a covering bet for a botched talk show appearance and/or big blow-up in NY somehow due to cocaine. If the tour isn’t completely scratched by then, all-in on “physically attacked by Amanda Palmer”.

    • I’ll match your ‘show canceled in Akron’ and one up you on the whole thing being canceled by Nashville, with a two day spread between Detroit and Cincinatti

  11. DJ – he is playing Worcester on June 24.

  12. San Diego? Los Angeles?

  13. MORRISSEY ISOLATION TOUR 2015

    no opening act
    no fans touching Moz
    no germs
    no cancellations

  14. We all know this tour will never happen or get canceled half way into it.

  15. Be happy that he cancels shows. I paid over $40 as a teen for a show on his Your Arsenal tour (a lot of money for a high schooler in the early 90’s) and the sonofabitch played for 40 minutes, didn’t perform an encore, and the show was over. I WISH he’d have cancelled the show…

Dollar a minute? That’s still cheaper than the 976 lines of the era, though I’m guessing Moz didn’t at any point do “The Freak” like Freddy Freaker onstage either.

    • Still so angry about $40 for a show twenty years ago? Can’t imagine how mad you’d be if it was your own money and not your mommys.

      • Chuck Bobuck

$40 was a lot for a ticket 20 years ago, which he probably paid for himself. While 20 years later Dan, you’re still living in your mommies basement being an ass to someone who had a legitimate gripe. Get a life loser boy!

  16. Um, I understand the skeptical (and humorous) nature here, but, I mean, the guy does have cancer. It’s possible that he’s trying his best under the circumstances.

    • One of the biggest Moz fans around but really? There are probably people here in this comment section who have had skin cancer spots treated and go to work the next day. It’s just what Moz does. We expect it. Still love him though.

  17. Is he Still Ill? I was just wondering so I could send flowers.
