While U.S. fans await word of Bad Lieutenant’s stateside debut — following last fall’s aborted showcase concerts in New York and Chicago — Bernard Sumner’s New Order spinoff on Wednesday announced five new live dates in the U.K. next month.
The band — Sumner, late-era New Order guitarist Phil Cunningham and singer-guitarist Jake Evans, plus New Order drummer Stephen Morris and bassist Tom Chapman — will play Sheffield, Glasgow, London, Preston and Liverpool between March 15 and 21 (see full tour dates below).
In addition to playing a handful of European shows last fall and some dates supporting the Pet Shop Boys, the band had been scheduled to play four U.S. concerts last November, including two dates opening for the Pixies in New York and Chicago. Sumner scuttled the trip, however, saying, “the more stringent immigration laws and changing visa parameters resulted in an inability to process the necessary paperwork.”
Bad Lieutenant previously has announced plans to mount a full U.S. tour this spring in support of its debut album, Never Cry Another Tear.
