The Pixies already have released their first new album in 23 years on CD and vinyl (both on 12-inch and across three separate 10-inch EPs), and as a digital download, but now comes the most retro format of all: an ultra limited-edition cassette release of Indie Cindy, housed not in a regular plastic tape case, but, rather, a cassingle-style sleeve.
According to the band, the cassette release is limited to just 500 copies worldwide. It can be purchased now via the Pixies’ webstore for £7, which is about $12.

Why, if the band’s from the U.S., are they selling it in Euros? Is this supposed to harken back to the experience of having to find them in the “imports” section at Tower Records? Their web retailer is making the profit off this deal, not them.
And no one gave a fuck.
Holding out for the 8-track. Can’t wait to hear “What Goes Boom” in quad.
Now I’m off to groom my neck beard, put on clothes two sizes too small and hit the thrift shops . . . after my half caff/no foam and bag of kale chips.
What? No release on MiniDisk?
Now Mick, remember the pattern:
STEP 1: Release album in dying/obsolete format.
STEP 2: Bassist quits/is fired.
STEP 3: Go to Step 1.
This is SO indie.
I have one of the 500 Cassettes of this superb album. My old car only has a cassette player, and recording the cd onto a blank cassette sounds sh***. This cassette has the quality of a cd and will stay in my possession for many years. Dying/obsolete ?? Lol, Open your mind Scott.
Dear Stig,
No.
P.S. Say “Hi,” to James and Hamster next taping, please. Couldn’t give a toss about Jezza.
