When New Order toured South America earlier this year, the band debuted “Singularity,” its first post-Peter Hook song and first new track since the Waiting for the Sirens’ Call sessions in 2003 and 2004. Earlier tonight, Bernard Sumner and Co. opened their short U.S. tour with another premiere, performing the new song “Plastic” for the first time ever.
Below, you can check out the heavily electronic song via fan-shot video from Ricardo Fernandes.
New Order’s tour continues Thursday in Milwaukee (see dates below).

The new song PLASTIC sounds very good, can’t wait to hear the studio version. I really liked Singularity also. I think by the end of this year we will get to hear these 2 songs, i think they will release these 2 songs before the end of the year.
Wonder if they plan to release non-LP singles like in the old days? Probably not.
Like it a lot– so very New Order… bring back the 80’s. Would buy this one in a heartbeat. Doubt this will be on American radio but who listens to American radio anyways????
Pretty good. It sounds more like classic New Order. Of course Barney will sound better in the studio.
Barney did mentioned that they have a new plan, to record new music and not release it.
Anyone else think this song is about hooky? Listen to the lyrics…
Hooky will steal it from them anyway.
Nice try Nick, but no, Hooky wouldn’t steal a crap song like that.
I really like this. Looking forward to hearing the studio version.
Damn! I wish they were coming to TX again.
loving it glad they are working on new stuff.
A few random dates is NOT a tour, why can’t New Order play 20 dates and hit all the major markets?
Annik died today.
The music is cool, but… wow:
Got a feeling
in my head
feels like thunder
overhead
UGH. Like, he asked a 2-year old to write this?
How about this:
I hear thunder
I know, I know–their lyrics have (almost) always sucked–and they’ve admitted it!
I dig it!
There is no New Order without Hook. And this song sucks.
Not so far removed from Pet Shop Boys Electric sessions…
As a committed NO fan I have to say…this song is dreadful, and the clod hopping lyrics are even worse.
