Reformed 2 Tone ska legends The Specials will commemorate last year’s string of sold-out U.K. reunion concerts with the March release of a 24-track live DVD titled, appropriately enough, “30th Anniversary Tour,” according to the NME.
The band currently is taking pre-orders on its website for the film, which was recorded at last Nov. 10 at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall. Due out March 1, the DVD features the full concert (see tracklist and a video clip from that gig below), as well as backstage footage, rehearsal scenes and interviews with fans.
The Specials — original members Terry Hall, Neville Staple, Lynval Golding, Roddy Radiation, Sir Horace Gentleman and John Bradbury, but sans founding songwriter and keyboardist Jerry Dammers — performed together for the first time since 1981 when they appeared on the U.K.’s “Later with Jools Holland” last April (see video here), before embarking on sold-out runs of British dates in the early summer and late fall.
Tuesday, the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival announced its 2010 lineup, which includes The Specials performing at the California festival on April 16. Barring additional shows, that will mark the U.S. debut of the band’s current reunion.
