With its original lineup —Exene Cervenka, John Doe, Billy Zoom and DJ Bonebrake — still in place, the reunited X hits the road again this spring, but with a twist.
Apparently acknowledging their Carson Daly fandom, the legendary L.A. punk band has dubbed its upcoming spring/summer trek “Total Request Live 2009,” and is letting fans vote — on a show-by-show basis — for the songs they’d like to see in the setlist.
More than 40 songs are listed, from “Phone’s Off the Hook” and “Johnny Hit and Run Pauline” to “Sugarlight,” “Los Angeles” and “The Hungry Wolf.” Voters can select five they’d like to see on the setlist of each particular gig.
The band is staging the tour as a benefit for Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, which helps ailing rockers. The organization if auctioning off tickets to the X shows on eBay.
