Synthpop duo Erasure will get festive this fall with a brand-new holiday album called Snow Globe that will include both original compositions and “seasonal classics” — a collection that singer Andy Bell says led him to rediscover his “inner choirboy.”
The album, which finds the duo taking a “minimal approach,” is to be released Nov. 11, according to the band’s website. And while a tracklist has not yet been revealed, the album will be preceded by the first single “Gaudete,” a medieval Latin carol that was a folk hit in 1973 for Steeleye Span.
In a statement on Erasure’s website, Vince Clarke says of his bandmate, “I haven’t actually heard him sing better,” while Bell adds, “I found my inner choirboy again. I thought I’d lost him, but he was there all along.”
The band is comparing its approach to the recent seasonal album 50 Words For Snow by Kate Bush, with Clarke noting, “We managed to strip everything back to bare essentials. ‘White Christmas’ almost has a drone all the way through it. I love that.”
Snow Globe will be Erasure’s first album since 2011’s Tomorrow’s World.

One of my favorites of theirs is an underrated Christmas song that you almost don’t realize is a Christmas song, She Won’t Be Home, off the Crackers International EP.
I absolutely agree. I also love their version of ‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen’. I think Erasure fans are really in for a treat. I know I’m excited for it :)

I have not been all that excited about the past couple of release from Erasure, but my heart tells me this is one to be excited about.

Ridiculous. Nobody wants this nonsense from Erasure. What the fans want is a classic, synth-pop record like they made from Wonderland – Chorus.
Everything since Chorus, with the exception of ‘Always’ has basically been sub-par with these guys.
No wonder Andy Bell’s solo setlist is comprised mainly of that time period, lol.
I don’t get Vince Clarke, Depeche Mode; these guys keep making shitty albums and straying too far from what made them big in the first place.
I really hope Erasure go back to their roots someday and we get a least one more decent record from them.
Vince tweeted that they have remade “She Won’t Be Home” for this collection. I wonder which version will be superior…
