A Split-Second to play first U.S. show in 25 years this December in New York City

A Split-Second

Belgian EBM/New Beat outfit A Split-Second — a member of the hugely influential Wax Trax! Records stable in the late ’80s — will make a rare live appearance in New York City this December in what’s being billed as the group’s first U.S. appearance in about a quarter-century.

The current three-piece incarnation of the band — featuring Marc Ickx, aka Marc Heyndrickx, one half of the original duo — is slated to perform Dec. 7 at Drom in New York. Tickets are now on sale.

A Split-Second originally was active from 1985 to about 1991, when original co-founder Peter Bonne left to work on another project. The group released its debut single, “Flesh,” in 1986, and signed to Wax Trax! in the U.S. in 1988. The label released a pair of albums by the duo, and singles such as “Rigor Mortis” and the Jello Biafra-guesting “Colosseum Crash.”

Below, check out a handful of A Split-Second tracks:

  1. Rigor Mortis was the first song I ever heard in the EBM genre. It was the first song that got me hooked onto the scene. Pretty cool to see them still around and playing a gig. It would be even nicer to see them play in Chicago!

  2. Wow! Pretty cool. Loved a lot of their Wax Trax! era releases. Kiss of Fury was okay but that was the end for me. Might have to make the trek and see the show!

  3. I didn’t know these lads were still kicking. I first got into them after hearing Scandinavian Bellydance. I bailed out once they went all guitar crazy. I wouldn’t mind seeing them, but it’s awfully difficult to motivate myself to go out to concerts these days. “Oh, what a drag it is getting old.”

  4. What an awesome show. I’m glad I got to see their full set. Thanks for bringing them over.
