Billing itself as “North America’s premier ’80s tour,” the semi-annual Regeneration Tour returns this August for an undisclosed number of U.S. concerts featuring a synthpop lovers’ lineup of Erasure frontman Andy Bell, The Human League, Howard Jones and Information Society — but not, as tour promoters originally had hoped, the reunited Ultravox.
While the tour’s lineup has been unveiled, the full summer itinerary has not — although a Los Angeles stop at the Greek Theatre on Aug. 30 was announced over the weekend.
On the tour’s Facebook page, the promoters acknowledge that they had hoped to secure Ultravox for what would have been exceedingly rare U.S. appearances by the recently reunited band. Frontman Midge Ure toured the U.S. earlier this year on his own, and, when he announced that trek, had said he hoped it would “pave the way” for a more extensive visit by Ultravox in 2013.
But according to the Regeneration Tour’s promoters:
“Ultravox had been slated to do the slot now occupied by Howard. For a number of reasons they are unable to do it this year and Midge and I will work towards making it happen for next year! (in addition to a more thorough solo tour for Midge!)”

I really am somewhat relieved ultravox isnt doing this… As much as i want to see them, i do not want a shortened hits set due to the multi act festival!
