KMFDM unveils ‘Kunst’ with NSFW cover art inspired by Pussy Riot — plus U.S. tour dates

German industrial powerhouse KMFDM are set to release their 18th studio album — Kunst, featuring Pussy Riot-inspired cover art by long-running associate Aidan “Brute!” Hughes — early next year, and will follow that almost immediately with a U.S. tour in March that, so far, includes 18 dates across the country.

The album is due out Feb. 26 on Metropolis Records, and the tour currently is set to open March 8 in Portland and run through March 30 when it returns to the Pacific Northwest for a show in Seattle; more concerts are expected to be added.

The band, still led by Sascha Konietzko, has not yet released a tracklist for the record. Of the cover art, Hughes notes that Facebook has removed the image from the band’s Facebook page.

He writes:

“In support of the Femen/Pussy Riot protestors, I created a suitably forceful chainsaw-wielding amazon for the front cover of the new KMFDM album, ‘Kunst.’ Since their incarceration for various anti-Putin stunts and protests, international support for the women of the movement has grown exponentially, mostly due to their bare-chested style of defiance.”

  1. One of the bands on my concert bucket list. Hopefully I’ll be able to get to Atlanta in March.

  2. I saw them in August 2011 in Chicago. It was an OK show but hopefully the new album is better than their last release. There were less than a handful of songs that were good

  3. Artwork-Women rising against evil Christianity….Yawn…very played out, very 80s

  4. Yeah… they have had better times. The ‘new’ KMFDM is hard to listen to.
