We’ve got some big news today on the radio front: Slicing Up Eyeballs — that is, yours truly, site founder/editor Matt Sebastian — has been asked to host “Dark Wave,” the Sunday night show that explores the “darker side of alternative” on satellite-radio network Sirius XM’s classic-alternative station 1st Wave.
Airing every Sunday night from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern/7 to 10 p.m. Pacific on Channel 33, “Dark Wave” had been hosted in recent years by ace KROQ vet Swedish Egil — meaning I’ve got some pretty legendary shoes to try to fill. Each week, I’ll be hand-picking a three-hour set of some choice dark-wave, industrial, post-punk and other decidedly moody music.
My first show airs this coming Sunday. For those of you have Sirius XM web subscriptions, the show will be available as part of the network’s new on-demand service. And if you don’t have Sirius XM, there’s plenty of time to subscribe or check out this 7-day free trial.

Congratulations! Tracks… humm.. how about “Join in the Chant” by Nitzer Ebb. That one is a great, dark, and angry track from the late 80’s.
Excellent news! Your guest-host playlist looks great. I like that you threw in a little industrial. There are multiple “sweet spots” where post-punk, goth, new wave, and industrial meet and you you do a good job of hitting them. Keep the playlist diverse and if you can, introduce us to some great deep tracks that we may have missed from some of the more popular artists.
… as for bands, I’d love to hear more Chameleons, Sad Lovers and Giants, Virgin Prunes, Einsturzende Neubauten, This Heat…

Hey! Excellent news! I religiously listen to First Wave radio and I think Dark Wave has been lacking on the creativity and depth of their programming. Human League is cool, but i’m sure you can come up with much better selections! Play some Curve on Sunday! Thanks and good luck!
