Former Bauhaus frontman Peter Murphy this week announced a late-summer concert at Hollywood’s famed Roxy Theatre, part of a 50-band Sunset Strip Music Festival that will be headlined by Marilyn Manson and celebrate the music of The Doors. Other acts on the bill include Bad Religion, The Offspring and De La Soul.
Murphy is slated to play the Roxy on Aug. 16 (tickets on sale now), the first night of the festival, which will see performances at a number of Sunset Strip clubs as well as a day-long outdoor show on Aug. 18. According to organizers, “Many of the artists will celebrate The Doors by performing their take on some of The Doors’ legendary songs.”
The only other dates on the books for Murphy at the moment are four South American concerts in late June and early July. Last month, the singer played China’s West Lake Music Festival.
Peter Murphy tour dates:
June 28: Teatro Vorterix, Buenos Aires, Argentina
June 29: Teatro Caupolican, Santiago, Chile
June 30: Teatro Metro, Bogota, Colombia
July 6: Cinea Joia, Sao Paulo, Brazil
Aug. 16: Roxy Theatre, Hollywood, CA, USA
