Earlier this summer, Simple Minds treated fans to a new single — the band’s first new material since 2009’s Graffiti Soul — that is now available here as a free download. The track, “Stagefright,” apparently is one of several new songs recorded for the band’s forthcoming best-of set, although no release date has been revealed for that project.
However, frontman Jim Kerr reports on the band’s website that Simple Minds is back in the studio, where it has reunited with Steve Hillage, who last worked with the group 30 years ago on 1981’s Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings Call albums. Kerr writes, “Although the idea of reconnecting with Steve might be considered as an attempt to turn back time, the goal is anything but as we set about determinedly staking out an on going future.”
