Post-punk legends Wire will wrap up a year of touring in support of their new album Red Barked Tree with a 15-date fall run through their native U.K. and Ireland — “covering several cities the band hasn’t played since the ’70s” — as well as by releasing a new live album recorded at an undisclosed performance earlier this year.
The band — Colin Newman, Graham Lewis and Robert Grey, plus touring guitarist Matt Simms — will open the tour Nov. 15 in Birmingham and play through Dec. 3 in Sheffield. Along the way, the band will perform 14 dates in the U.K. and a lone Irish show in Dublin on Nov. 26.
In conjunction with the fall tour, the band also announced today that its label, Pinkflag, will release a new live album “of a prestigious show from earlier in the year” that will be sold exclusively at the group’s U.K. shows “and will only be released to shops once the dates are finished.” No details yet on which show was recorded or the album’s tracklist.
