The Pixies continue to map out a busy 2010, with newly announced plans to follow up the band’s second round of U.S. Doolittle concerts with a string of Latin American shows this October in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Chile.
To date, the band has announced one concert apiece in Buenos Aires, Argentina; Santiago, Chile; and Sao Paulo, Brazil, in October, followed by three concerts in Mexico: two in Mexico City (including a slot co-headlining the Corona Capital Festival with Interpol), followed by a single show in Guadalajara (see full dates below). It’s unclear whether there will be more, since the band is announcing one show at a time.
These concerts follow four festival dates in Australia, New Zealand and Japan in early August, as well as the band’s second run of Doolittle dates — at which it will perform that 1989 album in its entirety — in the U.S. this September (the latter trek also has seen second shows added in Nashville, Tenn., and Austin, Texas).
In between all of this, as we reported earlier this week, frontman Black Francis is finding time to help turn his 2007 solo album Bluefinger into a rock opera in Texas , compile a new B-sides album and work in some scattered solo shows of his own.
