That concert in Atlanta featuring ex-frontman Dean Wareham “performing the Galaxie 500 songbook” that we told you about last month won’t be a one-off after all: Wareham and his Dean & Britta bandmates have announced a scattered string of such shows between August and December.
As Pitchfork noted this morning, the Dean & Britta website now lists seven “Dean Wareham Plays Galaxie 500” shows between Aug. 19 in New York and Dec. 3 in Chicago (see dates below), interspersed with multimedia concerts supporting the forthcoming Dean & Britta double album 13 Most Beautiful: Songs for Andy Warhol’s Screen Tests, a limited-edition project commissioned by the Andy Warhol Museum.
For the Galaxie 500 shows, Wareham will be backed by wife and current bandmate Britta Phillips, plus Dean & Britta members Anthony Lamarca and Matt Sumrow. The shows follow the reissuing, earlier this year, of Galaxie 500’s three albums — 1988’s Today,
