“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  1. Hi Matt, great show, thanks for playing KMFDM!

    Have a good night!

  2. Ooooh . . . Electrafixion!!! Boy was that a great album! I saw them on that tour : – )
How about another track from that album? I’d love to hear any of these –
    Burned
    Too Far Gone
    Zephyr
    Lowdown

    Thanks Matt!

  3. Since it will soon be the 1 year anniversary of David Lynch’s passing, I’d like to request something from his filmography for next week’s show – any dark wave adjacent track will do, but I’ve just seen Twin Peaks: The Return in cinemas this past weekend and would love to hear NIN’s She’s Gone Away. That, or any Lost Highway. Thanks!

  4. For future shows:

    1. Kyoto Song – the Cure
    2. City of Refuge – Nick Cave + the Bad Seeds
    3. Love + Kisses – Altered Images
    4. Sweetness + Light – Lush
    5. Driving Your Girlfriend Home – Morrissey
    6. Funtime – Iggy Pop
    7. A Matter of Time – Berlin
    8. Blue-Eyed Pop – the Sugarcubes

  5. Play some decry or detox

  6. Any chance I could request “The Cheque’s in the Post” by Momus? It would be super awesome if it could be on your upcoming Valentine Day’s episode too. It’s like the ultimate, funny dark wave song.

  7. “Still in Hollywood” turns 40 this year, and still goes as hard as ever. Solid show this week.

Hope everyone is good, fellow Darkwavers.

  8. Roger Brockman

    Electrofixion = Grunge Echo
Burned is a great album. Wish EATBM would re-visit some of those tunes as well as the Reverberation album. Thanks for keeping them alive here.
Speaking of the Reverberation album how playing Enlighten Me.

    • I adore Reverberation. I second that request! I was fortunate enough to catch them twice on that tour : – )

      I wouldn’t mind hearing King of Your Castle either : – )

They released two EPs right around the same time as Reverberation. One of them had this lovely track – Prove Me Wrong. I’d love to hear that.

  9. Great show, as usual.

Would love to suggest Psychedelic Furs “Highwire Days” or The Bolshoi “Happy Boy”.

    Thanks!

  10. Ripper of a set last night, especially with the extended industrial block to close out hour 3. Prob my fave Skinny Puppy track in there but there are a lot to choose from. I am very sad to hear you never got to see Bauhaus, damn. I like to think one of my better parenting moves was taking my eldest son to see them in SF in 2022 when he was just 12. I too saw David J with Peter Murphy and that was also a great show. And thanks for the Bowie track, such a beautiful one.

How about a little “Bombast” by The Fall on a future communion?

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  11. How about Films by Gary Numan

nice dark song from the beginning edges of Darkwave circa 1979

    Samhain – In My Grip

    Thanks!

  15. Top of the afternoon Matt! Another awesome show last night to bring in the new year right. I too loved the long industrial block like Nathan mentioned. I think it’s time for some shoegaze, don’t you?!

Some possible suggestions for next time:

    Curve – Horror Head
    Lily’s – February Fourteenth
    M83 – Graveyard Girl

  22. playlists have been next-level lately, Matt, great stuff

hey i just heard for the first time Magic Wands, Hide (In The Dark Mix); not sure if you’ve ever played them but they sure would be a nice complement to a dream-pop / shoegaze set, think about it! thanks, Brad

  23. Vincent Ciaramella

Matt, can you play “Deep Ocean, Vast Sea” by Peter Murphy this Sunday? My wife, son, and I are all off for Martin Luther King Day and we go Pokemon Go Hunting while listening to Slicing Up Eyeballs and our doing out Sunday night. My 10-year-old son, Enzo LOVES Peter Murphy and would get a kick hearing his name mentioned by you. Thanks in advance. Vince, Erika, and Enzo.

  24. We all need more Industrial in our lives!!! Thanks for the 3rd set and playing KMFDM, Pankov, Meat Beat Manifesto, and Nitzer Ebb. Loved that you played another track by Young Gods a few weeks back. Please play more. Thanks for turning me on to Anne Clarke over the years. I missed her in the day, but really like what I’ve heard.
