“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).
The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.
Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

Wow. This is amazing. Glad to see some Shudder To Think and Afghan Whigs where you least expect it. And many of these were totally unexpected versions. Amazing job!
Hell yes to The Whigs. For the Christmas show, how about “All I Want For Christmas is an Afghan Whigs Reunion” by Bicentennial Bear?
Fantastic show Matt!
Appreciate you.
Such a great covers show!!
It might be too late to request for the Xmas show, but the mention of Christmas in the song “Other Voices” by the Cure would be my request. Thanks Matt!
Amazing… still couldn’t play Soft Kill’s cover of Ministry Im Falling, but somehow Flaming Lips and the Raveonettes make it on the set. Crazy stuff.
Excellent show!
My next request:
The Smiths- Pretty Girls Make Graves (Troy Tate Demo)
really deep setlist of hard to find covers.
I would have picked Lucifer Sam over another version of Ziggy Stardust.:)
Very fun show! Thank you for this one. Pushing my previos request up – I think the Go-Betweens “Cattle and Cane” would be a fine fit for the “chill portion” of the weekly communion.
Fun show last night! I was genuinely surprised by a few of the selections, and there were even a couple covers I’d never heard before.
For a future show, would you play PIL’s “Albatross”? It’s a longer request, but that bass line is just killer.
Have a great week ahead, everyone!
Is everyone else not seeing the replay in the app?
Same glitch on my end. Hopefully, it gets added sooner than later…
Killing Joke – Adorations
Liked the Icehouse cover, went off and discovered the Berlin Tapes, some other good cuts there
Yeah! Love Icehouse and didn’t even know that cover existed. Same with Catherine Wheel. Thanks Matt!
I assume we will get “Birthday” by J*A*M*C for the Christmas show? That is a great one!
Can you dig out these covers and other songs
Galaxy 500 – Ceremony
Joy Division – Sister Ray
Siouxsie and The Banshees – Dear Prudence
Bauhaus – Third Uncle
Depeche Mode – Never Let Me Down Again
Great cover choices and some new ones that I never heard prior!
Here’s a request going into the new year (and for a future shoegaze block) –
My Bloody Valentine – New You
Thanks
I’d really love if you could play to have and to hold by Depche mode! It is a hidden gem
A really interesting cover show Matt! There were definitely some songs I’d never heard of — which of course is awesome!!! Speaking of different show formats, how about a whole show of Dark Wave artists on soundtracks?! Just a thought. Some possible suggestions for next time:
Abecedarians – Spaghetti Western
OMD – Souvenir
Japan – Nightporter
Thanks again as always!!!! 。◕‿◕。
Wishing my mom a happy heavenly birthday tomorrow 12/16. Love you. ( ◜‿◝ )♡
What a show! The wait for this covers show was well worth it. Some awesome tracks I’d never heard before. Really cool hearing British Sea Power on the program, that’s a band I’ve loved for 20+ years. Other highlights include ACR, House of Love, more Boo Radleys, another awesome Shoegaze block, Pavement, and of course the iconic Grace Jones.
Request for a 2026 communion show: “Fireworks” by Siouxsie and The Banshees.
Have a great week Matt, cheers!
Happy Holidays …
I have a Christmas Holiday Song Request;
Captain Sensible – One Christmas Catalog
This was an absolute treat to listen to. It was wonderful to hear a mix of songs both familiar and not so familiar. I loved the Afghan Whigs stripped down version of “Regret” and Grace Jones radical take on Joy Division.
A request for an upcoming show:
Sonic Youth with Lydia Lunch “Death Valley ’69 (from Bad Moon Rising)
Wishing Matt and the dark wavers a happy and peaceful week.
The Revolutionary Corps Of Teenage Jesus – Money Day (1999) https://creepingbent.bandcamp.com/album/alan-vega-revolutionary-corps-of-teenage-jesus-righteous-lite
Bill Nelson – Vertical Games (1981) Apple + Qobuz
Hell yes to The Whigs. For the Christmas show, how about “All I Want For Christmas is an Afghan Whigs Reunion” by Bicentennial Bear?

Awesome episode, I hope you do it again! That Peter Murphy/Trent Reznor “Warm Leatherette” was amazing and the Grace Jones “I’ve Lost Control” was great. And of course the RevCo. Another highlight was the Pixies doing Lynch. I had never heard that one before. And the Pavement and Manic Street Preachers. Really loved the whole show.
Brilliant, just brilliant
Thank you
