“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

I humbly request Galaxie 500’s cover of “Listen, the Snow is Falling” for the Christmas show.

    Have a great week, everyone!

  4. Thanks for getting to my request Matt! Always appreciate hearing some Swamp Terrorists (…or in this case something they more or less “chopped & screwed” for someone else).

Nice tribute to Mani too – he will be missed.

    Best,

Frosty the Snowman – Cocteau Twins
    Christmas Island – Depeche Mode
Snow in Summer – The Cure
    Pink Frost – The Chills

    • Another great show, Matt! Keep ‘em coming. I’d love to hear something by The Drowning Craze. Preferably the song Heat. What a breeding ground for some great musicians. It’s too bad they didn’t make more music.

  9. Erich Häring

Great communion and a great way to end thanksgiving break! I’d love to hear “Billie Was A Vampire” by Selofan or “A Realness” by Boy Harsher! Thanks Matt

  10. Keep the shoegaze rolling. Great set the last two weeks. For Christmas I’d love to hear Love and Rockets “Earth, Sun, Moon.” Don’t think I’ve ever heard that one pop up…and it has such a sweet, snowy sound about it.

  11. Thirlwell99

Nice playlist. I had never heard Chapterhouse before–going through their catalog now.

  12. All hail the shoegaze block! Thanks for playing The Belltower, great show Matt!

  13. For the Christmas Show

    All About Eve – December

  14. One of my favorite sets of 2025, holy smokes. And not just due to the incredibly gorgeous extended shoegaze set. Thank you for playing my Drop Nineteens request. Also really nice to hear some Chapterhouse and Pale Saints. I’m pretty excited to see Chapterhouse next May in LA. Kudos to the requester of The Belltower, so good, will be checking out more of their stuff. How I had missed that Britta Phillips was in that band is shame on me. Lovely tribute to Mani, thank you for that too, he was indeed a true legend. And keep those b-side cuts rolling please.

Here’s a b-side request for a future communion, can’t recall every having heard this one on the radio ever: “The Subject” by Echo and The Bunnymen off the “Back of Love” single. Will Sergeant at his most psychedelic.

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  15. Wow — one of my favorites this year Matt!! Bravo!! An absolute banger of a show…the shoegaze selections — *blowing a kiss your way* Thank you for playing Curve, been too long since I’d heard that one. Funny story about Sugar For The Pill …. I must listen to this song 40 times a week! It’s so mellow but beautiful…helps me slog thru scheduling all day at work. Anywho….some possible suggestions for next time:

Dead Kennedys – I Fought The Law
    Suicidal Tendencies – Institutionalized
The Misfits – Death Comes Ripping

Have a stellar week! Thanks again as always!! 。◕‿◕。

  16. Good one! And looking forward to the holiday DW!

Here’s a request for the holiday season –

Love Spirals Downwards – Welcome Christmas

    Thanks!

  17. Interesting version of Primal Scream’s Kowalski you played there. Not the Vanishing Point version but the Dan the Automator remix.

For the covers there’s a couple of versions of
Primal Scream – Some Velvet Morning

  18. Hey Matt!

Truly awesome set!! HUGE props for that Seefeel inclusion within an extended shoegaze block! Soooo ethereally great … ALSO, thanks for playing Yes, He Ran! Very nice that you followed that up with some En Esch – so allow me to follow up that particular SP request … with a request from FOOK!

Pigface // Ten Ground and Down

    Cheers!

  19. Matt, great end to the month and onward to December & Winter soon. Here’s to ushering in the Season & all the Darkness it brings! As always, all the best, till then…….
    MINISTRY-Dream Song
    KLUTE-Desert Storm
    SPAHN RANCH-Succumber

  20. New Day is an amazing song. It’s crazy how many great tracks ended up as B-sides. Maybe after your ambitious covers-only show there can be a more ambitious B-sides (and other non-album cuts) show.

  21. On Nov. 16th., I turned 57.
On Nov. 23., I went into the hospital with what turned out to be a ruptured appendix, 8 inches of necrotic colon, and an abdomen filled with vileness. When the surgeons got to me, I had an hour or two left to live.
On Nov. 30., I was wheeled out of the hospital feeling lucky to still be on this side of the veil.
During all of this, the song “Cold Blue” by Chickasaw Mudd Puppies kept rattling through my head. It may not be musically in line with the format of the show, but it certainly shares the sentiment and I was hoping you would give it a spin. A bit of the swampland gothic, if you will.

  22. Loved this set from start to finish. Thank you for playing my Ride request – that extended shoegaze block was stellar. And perfect selections for the Mani tribute.

I’m still on a Stone Roses and Primal Scream kick since Mani’s passing…So that’s influencing my request for a future show:
The Stone Roses “Made of Stone”

    Thank you.

  23. Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!! Matt for the SHOEGAZE sets and blocks!! Awesome! Keep it coming please. Great shows lately!

  24. Great show. Highlights were Love Me, the shoe gaze set and En Esch – I had never heard them. Loved it!
