Playlist: Sirius XM’s “Dark Wave” — hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs (2/16/25)

X-Ray Spex

“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

    Cabaret Voltaire – Yashar

    Thanks!

  2. From side to side – Lowlife

    Thanks!

  3. Chrome’s Meet you in the Subway, or Bauhaus Grandad, some dank, dubby mix? Thx.

  4. addictedtonoise

Toyah – Neon Womb for a future show. Thanks Matt!

  5. Great show last night! I’m really digging the punky energy of the set lists these past few weeks.

For a future show, could you play Gang of Four’s “Nature’s Not In It”?

  6. Slight correction – the proper title is “Natural’s Not In It”.

  7. Last night’s show is not posted in the SiriusXM app. If possible, can you play something from Dear Dark Head. Thanks!

  8. Marc & The Mambas – In My Room

  9. Good day Matt! A really solid program this week all three hours were exceptional!!!! Thank you for Tower of Strength…..just an awesome track to close out with!! Now I know Moev, SP & FLA get all the Canadian dark wave love, but how about these suggestions for next time:

    Strange Advance – Worlds Away
    D.H.I. – Chemical Land
Pure – Anna is a Speed Freak

    Thanks again as always! 。◕‿◕。

    • I will second these as well!

I couldn’t agree more on Tower of Strength. I was never that into that particular song, but man o man – it really is perfect for these dark times. We could all use a few more Towers of Strength.

  10. Greetings Matt,

Still hoping to hear Murder Inc. from Murder Inc. as it is one of my favorite Chris Connelly collaborations.

  11. Great show last night. High points were The Cure (that’s my favorite off Mixed Up as well), Kirsty MacColl, and Altered Images. Can’t pick one hour this week. They all had high points.

For an upcoming episode would like to hear something more deep cut from A Split-Second. Maybe “Crash Course in Seduction”, “Colonial Discharge”, or “Bend My Body Armor”. “Into the Burning Hole” or “Scadinavian Bellydance” might be good too.

Thanks for the great music. Can’t wait to hear the rest of the show. Have a good week.

  12. Tower Of Strength is one of my favorite songs. I’m going to see The Mission live soon I’m so excited. I would like to request Roman Candle by Flesh For Lulu.

  13. I loved the track by siouxsie and the banshees last night! Excellent.

  14. Enjoyed the punk and cover choices! Each hour was also perfectly balanced.

    Here’s a request –

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – Plain Gold Ring

    Thanks!

  16. Extra punky set this week, love it!

Peter Murphy has collaborated with none other than Mr. Trent Reznor on a brand spanking new single called “Swoon.” Perhaps we could hear this tasty treat on an upcoming episode?

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  17. Since you played the Bauhaus and Nico performing “I’m Waiting for the Man,” I’d like to request Nico’s “Purple Lips.”

  18. Lydia LaValley

I have been listening to you for SOOO many years—this show is such an important part of my life. It’s also the bright side to my insomnia.

This week, I request Switchblade Symphony’s “Gutter Glitter.” Thank you!!

  19. The Associates – Skipping

My suggestion for our upcoming communion is Work for Love off Ministry’s, With Sympathy album

  22. Good show enjoyed revolting cocks and gang of four to name a few.
Thanks for the Public Image Limited request.

  23. The Neon Judgement – Chinese Black (1987) Apple Music + Qobuz
Minuteman – Voodoo Slaves (1982) Vinyl Only

  24. Really loved this punk filled show. It was fantastic. I would like to request for the next show
“No Come Down” by The Verve.
For my birthday, great picks from the Damned, X-ray Specs, JAMC, Joy Division, Gang Of Four and The Cure, Thank You.

  25. I’ll second the Verve request.

    And happy belated birthday!

    • My comment was meant as a reply to Pete.

      • And as a reply to Nicole, I will third the Verve request.

      • You have still been soundtracking my transition from LA to Chicago. Loved last week’s David Lynch tribute. A while back I believe you said “Hot Trip to Heaven” was your favorite L&R album? I never really listened to that one, and I have been listening to a lot of Love & Rockets lately, so I bought it on vinyl. I could not agree more! It is such a wonderful trip.

From that album, could you play “No Worries”? I know it’s a little long, but it is such a good slow burn.

  26. Landscape — “Norman Bates”
