“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).
The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.
Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

I don’t think I ever gave that SKinny Puppy track the attention it deserved, thank you for that. Lucretia is popular because it’s good. I love it when I hear the staples seeing play every once in a while. Thank you for the Electric Hell Fire Club. Could I bother you for some:
Clan of Xymox- She
Bonus if it’s the She Past Away Remix, seeing how someone requested them last week and this is about the closest that’s going to happen. You played some solid jams tonight. Thank you for doing the Lord’s work.
In a high building there is so much to do
Ty
Morning! Thanks for playing “Warszawa”. Always get a little charge when a request makes air.
Yooo! Big Black! RIP Steve Albini.
Please play Snakefinger’s cover of The Model.
Thank you for playing my JAMC request. Always appreciated and quite a treat to have it as the opening track. You’re the best! Other highlights include Depeche Mode, Big Black, Love and Rockets, Bowie and the assorted cover songs…
A request for an upcoming show:
X “The New World”
Thank you! And wishing all a good week.
Great set as usual and thanks for my request for Cetu Java-situations.
I have a request for some Public Image Limited – Rise or Seattle songs.
I agree, they play those songs on First Wave but not very much, and they are wonderful.
Really enjoying this episode!! That Jesus and Mary Chain was a great opener!
Can you please play “The Devil’s Plaything” by Backworld?
You really went above and beyond this week with the requests, wow! By my count I think you played around 20 requests. Thanks for playing my Love and Rockets request. The show may be called darkwave but it is always a bright spot on my Sundays. Can’t thank you enough for always being so gracious Matt, you are the best.
Feels like it’s been a while since we’ve heard The Wake on the show. How about a dealer’s choice cut or maybe ‘Here Comes Everybody’?
Have a great week Matt, cheers!
P.S. We can never ever ever have too much Big Black.
Good range on this January episode! Also with some cool covers!
Here’s a request as we go into February –
Gang of Four – What We All Want
Thanks!
Those closing three songs of Hour 3 were magnificent. Bold, bar-fightin’ opinion: The Raveonettes version of ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ is the ideal first wedding dance song. Or a wake.
Gary Numan – Music for Chameleons
The The- Jealous of Youth
That’s a good one.
Happy late January to you!! Another terrific episode in the books! I imagine you putting our requests and your choices on a dry erase board mixing and matching things up until you get the correct formula like a mad scientist lol!!! Well I’m trying to get over ANOTHER KC win over my Bills last night…..I’ve got angst!!!! Some possible suggestions for next time:
The Misfits – Some Kinda Hate
Fugazi – And The Same
Dead Kennedys – Ill In The Head
Thanks again as always!!! 。◕‿◕。
BTW thank you for my Cure request!!
Matt,great to hear Machines Of Loving Grace,much thanx and great set as always….covers anyone,yeah!You deliver.Here is something to consider;
V2 from THAT PETROL EMOTION circa 1986 off Manic Pop Thrill.Love that whole album & these guys.Hope you go with it or any cut off these guys first album.Keep doin what you do man.All the best
Great show last night and last week!
Great set – loved all the covers!! Thanks for playing that big black track!!! Warszawa always gives me chills and there are times when a song you’ve heard a bunch of times just hits you in an unexpected way, and last night that was what Lucretia did for me.
Family Man got me thinking about Kray Twins by Renegade Soundwave… so I’ll make that a request for a future episode.
Thanks as always!
Wall Of Voodoo – Dance You Fuckers (1986) Vinyl Only
Artery – The Death Of Peter X (1983) Apple Music + Qobuz
Can you play The Soft Kills cover of Ministry’s I’m Falling? Thanks!
The Fall – A lot of wind
Play Human League “Seconds”
Siouxsie & the Banshees – The Rapture
Great show Matt! Thanks so much for playing my Codeine request, and I think I even heard my name mentioned — moving up slightly in dark wave notoriety ; ) Seriously though, as TINA pointed out, it is not just playing the songs but the way you are weaving them together each week to create the powerful moods and flows that is a real gift to us all.
Have been noticing that my ears are delighted whenever a Red Lorry Yellow Lorry song comes on, and took note of this being recent material. Wow! Loved this week’s Big Black and Bowie entries. And just wanted to share some love for last week’s obscurities Minimal Man, Abecederians, and Executive Slacks which will surely send me down some dark rabbit holes.
Have a great week!
I think this show is the reason I keep my SiriusXM subscription! Matt: How about some old VNV Nation – maybe something from Advance and Follow? Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much for playing “Coitus Interruptus.” It made my day.
Two birds, one stone: Request + Cover
Can you play “You’re Lost Little Girl” by Siouxsie and the Banshees from Through The Looking Glass?
Thanks!
