“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

  1. I enjoyed the Motown. Tricky was an unexpected treat. Just a spectacular show overall. So, ole man Wrapped said TKK is my favorite band of this year, so could we hear:

My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult- Satan’s Powers

Thank you for doing the Lord’s work.

  2. “December Will Be Magic Again” by Kate Bush for (the next after next) Sunday’s show

  3. Thanks for the Girls Under Glass. Hour 1 killed it. Some of my favorite Lorry and Stranglers’ tracks. Pink Turns Blue. Throwing Muses. It just knocked it out of the park. End of Hour 3 gave it a run for the money though.

Thanks for the great show. Have a good week.

  4. My birthday is 2 days after Xmas. For the show that week I’m requesting The Creatures – Killing Time, because, aren’t we all, after all?
    Thanks Matt

  5. Hi Matt!!!
Love the show!! I see your Facebook page mentioned Sinead’s birthday… but, you didn’t play a song from her on the show. I might be the only one thinking that might have been bizarre… :)

Many moons you ago, you played Nowhere Girl for me… by B-Movie (original version). I was wondering… could you please play Remembrance Day? Any of the 4 versions… your choice. Thank you in advance!!!

    Happy Holidays

  6. Please play XTC’s “COMPLICATED GAME”

Id be forever grateful and happy! I love this show so much!

  7. Altered Images – A Day’s Wait
    Old Grey Whistle Test version

  8. I’ll be streaming the show and looking forward to many personal favorites – JAMC, Verve, Kraftwerk, Love and Rockets…And excited for Tricky to be in the mix.

A request, if not too late for the Christmas show…
    Low “Blue Christmas”

As always, thank you! Wishing all a good week.

  9. Great show last night. Thanks for playing my Gang of Four request, super pumped to see them next May in SF. You and I are on the same page when it comes to Drone:Nodrone, that too is my fave track of the ones The Cure did not play live on the last tour. The Tricky cover right after was a nice touch.

Funny anecdote: my 11yo walks in right at the tail end of hour 2 during Killing Joke, asks me ‘who’s the most intense Darkwave band?’ I tell him that’s a tough one but I’d probably say coin flip between Ministry and Skinny Puppy. And then you play them back to back to kick off hour 3. He enjoyed the intensity right before bed, haha! This show rules.

Last week’s Daniel Ash spotlight combined with some great cuts this week has me in a Tones on Tail mood. How about “Lions” on a future show?

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

  10. Play Dead – Witnesses

  11. Liliput – Ain’t You (1978) Qobuz Bandcamp
The Slits – Earthbeat (1981) Apple Qobuz

  12. This was a killer show. I turned it up at “Travels in Nihilon” and never turned it down. Praise be to whoever (Christine?) requested “Home Computer.” And that Tricky cover. Here’s a request for the Christmas show since I am listening to PTV’s “Dreams Less Sweet” on repeat: “White Nights.” And I agree with Dane, you really are doing the Lord’s work.

  13. Hour one was rocking!

Here’s a request for the upcoming holiday/end of the year –

The Smiths – Back to the Old House (album or perhaps the Peel session version)

    Thanks!

  14. Hello Matt really excellent program this week – I especially loved hour 2 – some really great songs in there! With the holidays creeping up on us I’m thinking some Dark Wave “cheer” is in order…..

    Depeche Mode – Christmas Island
Alphaville – Love Will Find A Way
Book of Love – Candy Carol

    Thanks again as always!!!! 。◕‿◕。

  15. With the news of MBV playing a show in Ireland next year, I would love some MBV and maybe an ear-piercing shoegaze set to match…thank you as always!!

  16. Modern English – Move in light

    Please, thanks!

  17. Hey Matt!

Season’s greetings! First off – apologies for extended absence when it comes to posting things here – had some “typing issues” develop after an unwelcome collision with a car whilst on my e-bike last summer. :o. All better now… so I’ll post anew! Trust that I was listening to your show *alot* during my recovery phase – ALWAYS a weekly highlight, even more so while slogging thru physical therapy etc.

Hour 2 is exactly why I love your show – That great new Cure track, followed by a Tricky cover of Love Cats – brilliant! Sprinkle lightly w/ some shoegaze (Lowlife, Catherine Wheel) and then top off w/ Tones on Tail, The Armoury Show (haven’t heard that one in years – sounds even better today!), and then some classic KJ. Truly brilliant mix !

Here’s my new request: 10X Faster than the Speed of Love // Meat Beat Manifesto

    Cheers!

    JR

  18. loved this set – even though i nodded off right before Big Black… will need to listen again in fullness and also play the Songs About Fucking vinyl I picked up a couple weeks ago :) Disappointed it didn’t have their cover of He’s a Whore included, fwiw. I’ll make that a request for some future episode!

also wanted to shout out Lady Shave last last week. Man what a killer track.

Thanks for this show! Always a great listen!
