Playlist: Sirius XM’s “Dark Wave” — hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs (11/17/24)

Flesh For Lulu

“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

    Thanks!

  3. Black Metallic by Catherine Wheel would be awesome! Great show by the way .

  4. The first thing I do at work on Monday morning is tune in to the show from the night before. Thanks for the consistently exceptional selections!

  5. Teardrop Explodes – Ha Ha I’m Drowning

  6. Would you please play ‘Hip Priest’ by The Fall off their Hex Enduction Hour LP?

  7. Great program Matt! I don’t know if it is a coincidence or not but I requested the Cure’s Endsong last week!! – I’ll chalk it up to great minds thinking alike! (•‿•) Anywho…. some possible suggestions for next time:

    Abecedarians – Smiling Monarchs
Gary Numan – Down in the Park
The Human League – Together in Electric Dreams

    Thanks again as always!!!! 。◕‿◕。

  8. Great set last night, got it on replay right now. I think I’m giving the slight edge to hour 1, probably because you mind-melded Tina and played the Cure’s Endsong, sublime. Plenty of gems in hours 2 and 3 as well. Two weeks in a row closing with Mozzer deep cuts was great.

Request for a future show: “In the Ditch” by Gang of Four

Have a great week Matt, cheers!

P.S. We absolutely NEVER EVER can have too much Big Black. :)

  9. Great show like always Matt!

  10. Please play Yin and Yang (The Flower Pot Man) by Love and Rockets and Cervix Couch (Spahn Ranch mix) by Christian Death (or Resurrection- Sixth Communion) off of Only Theatre of Pain. Thanks, Matt!!

  11. Missed the show, but the playlist looks amazing. Anytime you start with Flesh for Lulu, it can’t be a bad show. Looking forward to listening tomorrow.

Would like to hear some Girls Under Glass on a future episode please. “Wall of Sound” or “Tomorrow Evening” maybe. Dealer’s choice.

Thanks for the music. I will be diving in tomorrow. Have a good one.

  12. The Wreckery – Base Devil (1987) Apple & Qobuz
Tricky – The Love Cats (2003) Apple & Qobuz

  13. Hi
    I have a request for
Gene Loves Jezebel – Twenty Killer Hurts. Killer 12″
    Thanks

  14. Great set – The Chameleons’ Beatles cover was quite the treat, always appreciate more Big Black, and I’m now left to ponder who did Suck better – NIN or Pigface?

For a future episode, a couple ideas:

G̈r̈oẗus̈ – Brown (had to copy/paste that for the umlauts, hah)
    Jane’s Addiction – Idiots Rule
Braindead Soundmachine – I’m in Jail

Thanks Matt – all the shows over the last month have been awesome, I’ve just been too busy to comment on ’em!

  15. Belated thanks for playing my request for Long Fin Killie last week! And was delighted to hear ‘only tomorrow’ from MBV in the same set…I’ve considered requesting it but worried it might be a little too recent a release. My favorite song from the album.

This week’s show was fantastic. Always a great night when a Foetus project makes the playlist, and the Pigface song that followed was a great reminder of Steve Albini’s brilliant engineering. And thank you for introducing me to the darkness of Abwärts and Kommunity FK.

The current state of things has got me wanting to request Sonic Youth – The World Looks Red

    Have a great week!

  16. Truly amazing set lists Matt with Hour 2 getting the nod. Thanks for the Cramps.

  17. Enjoyed each hour!

  18. Thanks for playing Abwarts!

  19. Hi Matt,
    You’re the best!!
It’s been a long time, but how about Castles in Spain! Armoury Show.
I’ve been listening to your program for many many years. We never had TV and my kids are now teenagers. We always had music playing in our home. They love the older alternative music, grunge, and heavy rock…And they have their own band for the last few years.

  20. Play the latest releases by The Subtle-Poet ‘Blue Dream’

  21. Hi I have a request please !

The subtle poet – blue dream

    Thanks again !
