Tonight was a welcome end to the day and I added a fair amount of new songs to my daily playlist. I very much appreciated the Night Shift. That Adam Ant cover was great. I had forgotten about it being a secret track. So, to my knowledge there is no official recording of it, and live might be the only option, but it would be really cool to hear:
Sisters of Mercy – We are the same, Susanne
If that doesn’t work I’ll take a pint of your finest This Corrosion or Lucretia, of the My Reflection variety. Nothing wrong with the fundamentals. Thank you for doing the Lord’s work.
I would love to hear some music from lesser known bands peppered in.
For example, the female fronted goth industrial band VooDou from my home state of NC.
They were on Invisible Records, their debut record was produced by Julian Beeston (Nitzer ebb) and Martin Atkins, and features drums by Martin and even vocals Chris’s Connelly (RevCo) on a couple songs and toured with Thrill Kill Kult and the lead singer was in Pigface for several tours. All this and not even on anyone’s radar.
Many bands from the genre we love never make it to the other side simply because no one knows they exist, not because they are good.
I’d like to be turned on to good unknown bands so that I can support them to help get them through the dark.
“Metropolis” by the Church for (the next after next) Sunday’s show
I loved hearing Ippu-Do tonight! In a similar vein of Japanese goth/post-punk, it would be amazing to hear “Top Secret Man” by Plastics next week.
Thanks for the Medium Medium. I missed the first half of the show, but set list looks amazing. Looking forward to hearing it on the ap.
Throwing this one out there for consideration of a future episode. Crash Course in Science “It Costs To Be Austere”.
Thanks for the great music. Have a good week.
Great show Matt! I loved the shoegaze set tonight
Hi! Been listening for about three years now, and while the show is always a firm appointment in my schedule, the last two weeks have had the best playlists in all my time tuning in.
If you could play “Credit in the Straight World” by Young Marble Giants, that’d be sick.
The Creatures – Venus Sands
please n thanks Matt
Hi Matt, I would like to dedicate this song to Casey. In your room by Depeche Mode. Thank you for a wonderful date.
Amazing once again Matt.
Paul Haig, not a household name in the post-punk arena, but he’s a one time Bernard Sumner produced musician who does an absolutely fantastic cover of Atmosphere, guaranteed not to disappoint your listeners.
Keep us covered in covers Matt, you turned me on to many I never heard before that made my personal playlists.
Depeche Mode – Behind the Wheel
Wow awesome show last night. Could you please play
A portrait destroyed by fire by Guided By Voices
It would be awesome
Thanks
I loved the Nine Inch Nails cover of Adam and the Ants. Would love to hear Ants Invasion next time.
Could you play one of the two new Galaxie 500 songs that have been released as part of a tease of their upcoming new album of unreleased material.
Either:
Shout You Down
Or
I Wanna Live

This should be enough requests for a while. Thanks
The inclusion of more Sister Machine Gun has me giddy! Plus with our mutual love of covers, may I suggest SMG’s cover of “Strange Days” if you can find it? It was a hidden track on the Burn album.
Thanks for another solid set of the dark tunes. And thank you for playing my JAMC request – much appreciated! I enjoyed hearing personal favorites from Peter Murphy and The Smiths…other highlights include Wire, Sugarcubes, Cramps, Cabaret Voltaire, Medium Medium… And I’m laughing because I have the DK’s “soup is good food” stuck in my head right now.
A request for an upcoming show:
I’ll be heading to Los Angeles for vacation next month…so I think “we’re desperate” from X would be fitting.
Thank you!
Great call on X.
Each hour was rocking! Enjoyed the shoegaze choices!
Here are some requests –
Ministry – Same Old Scene
Wipers – True Believer
Thanks!
How about some Party of the Mind from the incredible The Sound
Constantine and Cameron
That was the opening song of this very episode
Whoa ….. that’s some serious ESP Matt !!!!
Damn, what a set! Can’t pick a winning hour and that’s a good thing. Totally agree with your sentiments about Mr. Murphy’s most beautiful track. Dug the shoegaze block as always and I had never heard that MBV cover of Wire. Thanks for playing my Wire request too, the MBV was a sweet appetizer. Did anyone make it to a show on the Rollercoaster tour back in I think 92? JAMC, Curve and Spiritualized. I’m still pissed at my Dad for not letting me go, haha.
Really digging all the covers, Here’s another cover for consideration from one of the all time great film soundtrack albums, Lost Highway: “This Magic Moment” by Lou Reed.
Have a great week Matt, cheers!
Nathan, I love the Lou Reed request.
And I was fortunate to catch the Rollercoaster tour in Philadelphia. While I don’t endorse holding grudges for too long, your anger at your Dad is warranted! ha ha It was an amazing show.
Wow, I am super jealous! That same year Dad also wouldn’t let me go see Ride but when Moz came around in October I put my foot down and said I’m going and you’re not stopping me! That was my first show, Morrissey on the Your Arsenal tour. Good memories.
Oh no, sorry that you missed Ride that year! I was so lucky to see them with Lush in 1991… But I’m glad nothing stopped you from seeing Morrissey – how cool for your first show! Thanks for the trip down memory lane…
Hi Matt! You played a number of favorites of mine last night….hours 2 & 3 totally crushed!! Some possible suggestions for next time:
Skinny Puppy – Candle
KMFDM – Anarchy
Front 242 – Tainted Love (yup, that one!)
Thanks again as always!!! 。◕‿◕。
The Invincible Spirit – Make a device
Hello! I have a few requests!
Throbbing Gristle – Still Walking
Nine Inch Nails – Closer to God
Suicide – Cheree
Mojo Nixon – Girlfriend In A Coma (1995)
White Zombie – El Phantasmo And The Chicken-Run Blast-O-Rama(Wine, Women And Song Mix) (1996)
Really nice stretch starting with NIN to finish out the first hour. If you are up to play some more Sister Machine Gun next week, I would like to request Temptation.
Great show. Loved the shoe gaze block in particular this time. And “Here’s the Dub” — had never heard that mix before. Please play more Frank Tovey. I just got a couple 12″‘s. “Lemming Stomp” is a great B-side!
