It’s wonderful that you played Something Wonderful. And thank you kindly for the TKK song. You know, shoe gaze wasn’t my thing in the past, but you changed that for me and I’m mighty thankful for that. So could we hear one of my favorites:
Lush- Leaves Me Cold
Long live the shoe gaze block. It’s always fun when you play the Misfits. Thank you for doing the Lord’s work and outstanding show as always.
“Punish Me With Kisses” by the Glove (Steve Severin + Robert Smith) for (the Sunday after next) Sunday’s show
Okay, this was your best show thus far this year. Great cuts in all the hours, but Hour 3 killed it. I’m so glad you played Pain Teens. I had never heard them before and glad I got to. The four punkish cuts at the end, from The Cramps to The Damned, were the cherry on the sundae.
Thanks for the great music. Have a good week.
Great show as always. It occurred to me you occasionally include some NZ indie, which is always fantastic. Would be great to hear Flying Nun gods The Clean, “Point That Thing Somewhere Else”. Keep up the good work!
Hey Matt! Awesome show as always – so great to hear those classic tracks from Horse Rotovator and Allegory Self! The song selected from Buried Blessings might just be my all-time fave from CB! Thanks for that one too … and a belated thanks for playing the Daydream Nation track last week as well! Which leads into a new request for later this month perhaps … another from TM …
Hang Out // Thurston Moore
Cheers!
Pain teens? The forgotten Houston band
And the Love and Rockets song before that was Yin and Yang
I’ve never heard of majesty crush before. Hope you can play more of them in the future!
So many highlights for me – Anita Lane into Birthday Party and hour two is just perfection!
I’m going cliche with my request – can you please play my favorite JAMC song “April Skies” sometime this month. Thank you!
oh man Bliss Blood followed by David Yow… a perfect Texas Two Step! Thanks for playing my Pain Teens request and the whole night’s show was so great! I’m now a fan of Majesty Crush.
Hey I was thinking it’s been a while since you’ve played any ‘industrial hip-hop’ so maybe for a future show, a couple ideas: ‘this is a collective’ from Consolidated, Ticking Time Bomb or dealer’s choice from Tack>>Head, or something else from that strange little genre!
Thanks as always for a great soundtrack to our Sunday nights!
Super stellar show Matt! It was a tough week for me personally, but please know your show helps. It does. Here’s hoping the clouds ease, and we can see the eclipse here in the Buffalo area in a few hours! Some possible suggestions for next time:
Cranes – In the Night
Pixies – Head On
Echo And The Bunnymen – Stormy Weather
Thanks again as always! 。◕‿◕。
Definitely seconding Head On.
Great show! Loved the industrial AND shoegaze AND punk blocks!
Here are some requests –
The Flesh Eaters – Cyrano de Berger’s Back
Clan of Xymox – Red Light
Thanks!
Great show as always Matt for a future show I would love to hear Tragedy for you by front 242 or Breathe by The Prodigy
Such a brilliant set from start to finish, too tough to choose a fave hour. Anita Lane into The Birthday Party to send things into the second hour was so good, thanks for that. And you are indeed correct sir about Darklands, it really is JAMC’s best album. Always love the beloved shoegaze block, nice to hear some Pale Saints. I see “Spiked” is on the playlist above but it was actually “Yin and Yang and the Flowerpot Man” that was played – a worthy substitute! Killer punk block before closing the show with a great Joy Division track.
I know you just played some shoegaze but I’ll be taking a quick little road trip in a couple of weeks to see Slowdive in southern California and would love to hear a track off the new album if possible, “Chained to a Cloud.”
Have a great week Matt, cheers!
For next week
Sonic Youth – Cotton Crown
Velvet Underground – Venus In Furs
Joy Division – Heart And Soul
New Order – Elegia (long version)
Siouxsie and The Banshees – Switch
Depeche Mode- Halo
Would love to hear a big goth dance anthem – Posie Noir – Pity for the Self
That Catherine Wheel song was lovely. Would not mind hearing more of them whenever the shoegaze block comes up.
This is a bit of a deep cut, but could you play Dernière Nuit by Message? Great song that you never hear.
I loved the entire show last night!
Thanks for reintroducing DM’s Ultra album to me 2 weeks ago. Could I hear
Love and Rockets No Words No More
Perhaps a selection from the English post-punk combo Wire and their phonogram recording: ‘154’
‘Map Ref. 41°N 93°W’, or ‘The 15th’, or for the terminally mopey among us, ‘I Should Have Known Better’
I’ll second anything by Wire, great band, and 154 is a great album. 3 excellent selections there Scratch!
Will always second Wire. Love 154.
Eurythmics – Le Sinistre (1981)
Wipers – Alien Boy (1980)
Wow!!! Majesty Crush! I’ve never heard them outside of Detroit radio stations! So glad you played them. They deserve the recognition
I won’t come right out and call you a “heretic”, however your “Darklands” is superior to “Psyschocandy” is truly stunning.
Another good set Matt did not disappoint with some shoegaze.
Majesty crush – # 1 fan was great and never heard of before. Some others from the night The church, Cure, Revolting Cocks, Ministry, My Bloody Valentine and Lush.
A request for The Past Seven Days – Raindance
For your shoegaze
Or Joy Division – She’s Lost Control
Would be nice
