So much good music, like Crispy Ambulance and John Foxx, but I have to give it to Hour 3. Some great covers, Nevilluxury, and a great MLWTTKK songs. Great job.
Your line about bass lines made me think of one of my favorite (sleazy) bass lines. Could you play New Model Army’s “Sex” on an upcoming episode please?
Thanks and have a great week.
“Kookaburra” by Cocteau Twins for (the next after next) Sunday’s show
Hey Matt long time no see. I still follow Dark Wave and yeah love the playlists. I see now requests take a couple of weeks now but my request in a couple of weeks then is New Order ‘Thieves Like Us’ either with lyrics or instrumental. I hope you are doing well along with the rest of the dark wave family. So yeah that is my request down the line, happy Easter to everyone here and bring on the spring season!
I’d love to hear Duran Duran “The Seventh Stranger”
Great stuff, as always. Was half expecting I Am the Resurrection but I guess that is a little peppy for Darkwave :)
Also, how about that lead-in set from Russell, the WhyHunger auction winner?? It was fantastic! Recommended listening for anyone who missed it.
Sorry, Egil just corrected me… It was Raymond Webb on the decks before darkwave
Great show! Happy Easter! A couple of suggestions for future weeks:
Echo and the bunnymen: Rust
Jesus and Mary Chain: Almost Gold
Thanks a lot!
Another top notch show! Thank you for playing my JAMC request – I haven’t heard that cover in ages and it still sounds good! And I like the new Nick Cave song.
A request for an upcoming show:
David Bowie “Sound and Vision”
Thank you! Wishing everyone a happy April.
Seconded!
Can you play Cascade by the Banshees for me
Thanks Matt
Another brilliant program Matt! Thank you for my New Order request…it’s such a beautiful song. Speaking of beautiful songs, I was hoping you could play Fiction Factory’s Feel Like Heaven in honor of my dad who passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning. I find music to be the ultimate healer in stressful times. ❤️
Thanks again as always. 。◕‿◕。
Tina, I’m sorry to hear about your Dad. I hope music brings you some comfort during this difficult time. Take care.
Thank you so much ❤️❤️
Sending you lots of positive vibes Tina!
Thank you that’s very kind.
Sorry to hear Tina ..music can heal the soul and keep busy.
Thank you very much!
I’m very sorry to hear of this Tina. I know exactly what you are experiencing. Wishing you all the best as you begin to navigate this new normal. And you don’t have to apologize to anyone for the way you grief, now and in the future. It is yours, it is personal and it is never wrong. And I agree with you, music is a greater healer. Take care.
Sonic Youth – Shadow of a Doubt
Spectacular set. Finely balanced as per usual. I really enjoyed hearing a The The deep cut and some Throbbing Gristle. The new Bad Seeds single is great, can’t wait for the new album and fingers crossed for a tour in the fall. That was my first time hearing it so many thanks for adding it to the set.
Have a great week Matt, cheers!
Another wonderful Sunday night last night! Great show!
I’m not sure what’s better, hearing Dark Wave start or the first song being from Love and Rockets? It sure did give me a giggle when the TKK came on, thank you.
So speaking of fun covers, could we please hear:
CLln of Xymox- A Forest
Last night was a party of a show; thank you for providing the soundtrack.
Sonic Boom – It’s alright
Thanks for playing my request of John Foxx (after Depeche Mode’s “The Love Thieves” no less! [another fav of mine.]) The Soft Moon had covered “No-One Driving”, and that music artist passed away recently – a huge loss to the music world. His stuff is great, including that cover.
Also, I agree about Ministry’s bass line for “So What?” I heard them play it live maybe 5 years ago, and they had the bass turned way up. I went to my bass tutor the very next day and said, I want to play this and now!
Mazzy Star – So Tonight That I Might See (1993)
Dead Or Alive – Flowers (1980)
Really enjoyed that Alan Vega bookend in the first hour!
Here are some requests –
Adam & The Ants – Zerox
Lush – Outdoor Miner
Thanks!
Another good set Matt, Really liked Love and Rockets, Public Image Limited, Gang of Four, Ministry and the back to back of The cure covering Depeche Mode and then Depeche Mode and ending with New Order- Your silent face.
I have a fun request from the 80’s – Screaming Blue Messiahs- I wanna be a Flinstone
or a shoegaze beauty – LUSH- Sweetness and Light
Matt, how about a forgotten gem for next week’s show:
“Boy (Go)” – The Golden Palominos (feat. Michael Stipe), from the album Visions of Excess.
The last two weeks have been something wonderful. Thank you.
Love that I am still discovering music that I missed out on — now I need to dig into Virgin Prunes. Requesting more XTC. “Travels in Nihilon” perhaps?
“Language in our Lungs?” Anything off Black Sea, really.
