“Life In Tokyo” by Japan for (the next after next) Sunday’s show
Great minds think alike, ha! Just requested Japan too!
So many amazing tracks on tonight’s episode! So happy I was able to stay up and listen to it in full! Loved hearing David J, Siouxsie, Bauhaus, Simple Minds, and of course Love and Rockets.
For next week, could I hear something from Japan? Perhaps from the Gentlemen Take Polaroids LP. Thanks!
I second that (e) motion to hear that Erik Satie meets Richard Barbieri waltz, ‘Nightporter”
Would love to hear The Cure’s cover of Depeche Mode’s “World In My Eyes” on the show. Thanks!
Thanks for another great show! For next time would love to hear Freur “doot doot”. Thank you.
Exceptional show this week Matt!
Hoping to hear Majesty Crush – “No. 1 Fan” in a future shoegaze block
Factory Records at it’s best to start the show!
Crispy Ambulance next week? ‘From The Cradle To The Grave’
Thank you Matt Sebastian, and thank you Tony Wilson.
Yes to the awesome Factory Records start of the show!
Second the Crispy Ambulance, nice one Rick!
I would love to hear, the cure singing Love Will Tear Us Apart. Thanks.
I would love to hear, the exploding boy by the cure.
2nd this.
I feel like a broken record with my weekly comments…but Matt you craft a quality show week after week! Thank you for including my Bowie request and preceding it with Iggy! “Station to Station” is my favorite Bowie album. And how I love the Berlin era that followed…
A request for an upcoming show:
The Jesus and Mary Chain’s cover of “My Girl”
Thank you!
That is a such a great cover! JAMCs version of Little Red Rooster is also stellar.
On a different note, totally with ya on Station to Station. “Word on a Wing” is probably my all time fave Bowie track. Although “Sound and Vision” off Low is right there.
Nathan, “Word on a Wing” is an absolute thing of beauty! I heard Gavin Friday describe it as “Bowie at his most spiritual…” And I’ve been tempted to request “Sound and Vision” for Dark Wave so your comment will give me a future nudge.
And the word that always comes to mind when I hear JAMCs version of “Little Red Rooster” is blistering. They’re just so good!
Love listening to your show :)
I have a first-time request for me – I am not sure if this is Dark Wave, but could you play John Foxx’s “No One Driving” from March 1980? A phenomenal artist passed away a couple of months ago (The Soft Moon) that did an incredible cover of this song (https://youtu.be/ANQEq7q2hUc?si=JUn2OkAYfCMyyiVa ) and I am addicted to it, and it’s keeping TSM alive for me. I know TSM is too new to play, so the original will do :)
You are indeed in the right place Tiana, welcome to the Dark Wave family! Great call on the John Foxx track. I was able to see The Soft Moon live a couple of times, such a great band. RIP Jose Vasquez, he was way too young.
Soft Moon died? I hate to hear that. He was one of my favorite “New Dark” bands. Thanks for saying something. Will second or third this request. Thanks
You put up some great cuts last night Matt. 999 9 inch nails. Lene Lovich, quite a few little golden nuggets in tonight set list.
Great show Matt — but holy crap hour 3 *faints dead away*!!!!! Thanks for playing my Fugazi request…. soooo good!!!! Anyway … some possible suggestions for next time:
New Order – Your Silent Face
The March Violets – Turn To The Sky
Joy Division – Atrocity Exhibition
Thanks again as always!!!! 。◕‿◕。
The Selecter – Their Dream Goes On (1981)
B-Movie – Nowhere Girl (extended version) (1982)
Psychedelic Furs – This’ll Never Be Like Love
From Manchester to Scotland, back to Manchester and then to Nebraska! That was an absolute killer opening block of music to start the show! Loved hearing the David J cut from his attic, I had no idea that a new album was on the horizon, will definitely be picking that up. All 3 hours were so on point last night, I’ve already listened back once and it will be on repeat on the app all week.
The David J cut and live No New Tale to Tell got me thinking of some other L&R tracks with David on lead vocal. Could you play a deep cut off of the Sweet F.A. album on a future show? “Spiked” is a personal fave.
Have a great week Matt, cheers!
Can’t believe I forgot to thank you for playing The Wake request! Fantastic choice, I love that 12-inch mix. Another classic Factory release.
Another great show, Matt. I wish they were longer. I’d love to hear ‘Feels Like Dancing Wartime’ by Nevil Luxury on an upcoming show. Thanks.
My favorite Smiths song
Love your show! Around the 70 minute mark there’s a promo, what’s the music being used?
I think it’s “Nightclubbing” by Iggy Pop. I could be wrong but that’s what pops in my head when I hear the promo.
It 100% is! Thank you so much!
Thanks for The Heartthrobs. Great show. The four song block ending Hour 2, “Getting Closer”, and all of Hour 3 were the highlights for me.
Thanks for the great music. Hope you have a great rest of your week.
The end of HR 2 old school block was sooooo good!
Great show last weekend, thanks Matt!
Great to hear that Pixies Peel Session! How about “Hey”?
Hi Matt
Another good show tonight, I got a few good ones to add to my playlist like New Order, Cocteau Twins, Nitzer Ebb and David Bowie.
My request for next week is Wire Train- Chamber of Hellos
Great one this week!
