New Order – Ceremony
Modern English – Carry Me Down
Depeche Mode – More Than A Party
Siouxsie And The Banshees- Switch
Nine Inch Nails – Suck
“500 (Shake Baby Shake)” by Lush for (the next after next) Sunday’s show
Thank you so much for the shoutout and for playing all my favorite Daniel Ash cuts! “Foolish Thing Desire,” “The Passion of Lovers,” and “Motorcycle” – all great tunes! Thanks Matt for all you do! Your show helps me discover great songs I’ve not heard before so thanks a bundle.
Request for future show:
No Worries – Love & Rockets
Can’t speak for the rest of the tour, but the Atlanta show was stellar. Sounds like you had a great time!
Austin was amazing too!
Great set I would request “Judgment Day “ by Love and Rockets
Once again this show amazes me with it’s picks I am still rooting for either “Losing Touch With My Mind” By Spacemen 3 or “Devil Town “ By Daniel Johnston
Great selection for the Sinead O’Connor tribute. All great, but the end of Hour 3 killed it.
Speaking of Concrete Blonde, on a future episode could you play something off their first incarnation’s EP, Dream 6 please? “Daddy Lied” is my favorite, though the early version of “Rain” would be good too.
Thanks for the show. Have a good week.
And forgot to say thanks for the Code Industry. Have a good one.
Nice request. Good Antler/Subway record.
Twisted Nerve – Seance
Figures on a beach from the Just say yes collection? That brought back memories. Pretty cool. Some really good cuts this week, Echo, Ash, and The opening cut was an especially nice touch, very fitting. Now I know you play Joy DIvision’s Dead Souls quite regularly, which is always a welcome choice, but Whenever the mood strikes you, how about playing NiN’s version of Dead Souls?
Thank you Matt, btw, I’ll take all the Daf you got!
This one is dedicated to you Matt.
Killing Joke – Communion
Each hour was hot!
Here are some requests –
Morrissey – Spring-Heeled Jim
For Against – Over Nepal
Thanks!
Great show, but Sinead deserves more than one. I think stretched on your grave would be good for next week.
incredible show!!!! My birthday is on this Saturday…would love a shoegaze record or two to help me celebrate :)
Morrissey – Speedway
Thanks Matt
Hi Matt, I´d like to request “Return” by Deine Lakaien. Thanks!
The Passions- I’m in Love with a German Film Star
Sorrow -Bad Religion
Great show!
If possible, could you play one of the following?
Sinead O’Connor and Shane McGowan: Haunted
Heavy Water Factory: Waking up in Darkeness
VAST: Touched
Nick Cave: Cassiels Song
Coil: Panic
Einsturzende Neubauten: Stella Maris
Chris Connelly: Shipwreck
Thank you!!!!!
I’d love to hear some VAST too
Starry episode.
This week’s Darkness Award:
Figures on a Beach, “No Stars”
Request for future show:
The The, “Kingdom of Rain”
RIP Sinéad O’Connor
Second Kingdom of Rain!
I concur for The The!
I concur as well! <3
A poignant and moving opener, RIP Sinead. Stellar set as always. Section 25 was the gobsmack track, so good. Can I request a fellow Factory artist with A Certain Ratio? Would love to hear “All Night Party”, a fitting song for our weekly communion.
Have a grest week Matt, cheers!
Thank you so much, love Sinead’s song, my favorite…one that I had on my mix CD that was like a journal entry at that time in my life.
Great flow this week. Nice. Could you play some Pleasure Game (that’s Belgium, ya know.)
“Le Dormeur”
The original is a monster, the Paradox version is really cool, but the Marc Olivier remix is what’s up.
Le dormer doit se reveiller
The sleeper must awaken
Hi Matt, Jesus and Marcy Chain “I Get Ahead” please! Thanks! Jim
Great show! And, I remember Strangeways radio. Miss all of the great music I would hear on there.
On a future episode, can you please play The Lucy Show – This is No Heaven. Thank you.
Matt I enjoyed all three hours. I will have to give the nod to hour 1 for Sinead and Riboflavin.
I remember in the early 80’s listening to a band called Radio Head from Huntington Beach CA. They had a different sound with a punk edge. If you can find Sitting’ Round My Place by Radio Head HB that would be brilliant. Love the show!
Thanks for starting the show off with Last Day of Our Acquaintance. That was the first song that came to mind that I wanted to request when I heard of Sinead’s passing. Lion and the Cobra is such a genius album. She never got a fair shake after the “Pope” incident, but she should be in the Rock and Roll hall of fame. Such an amazing voice.
Kingdom of Rain by The The would be another good tribute.
Thanks
Love the show and thanks for re-introducing me to Front 242.
How about something off “Blood” by This Mortal Coil?
Thanks!
Hey Matt, as a weekly listener I got to say…really enjoyed all songs played and especially one by “figures on the beach “song stars. Made me think of :
Escalator of life- Robert Hazard.
And Simple minds -81, 82,83. 84.
That is by far my favorite Simple Minds song.
any Ultra Vivid Scene (1967-1990) or Air Miami (Me Me Me just re-released )
Hey Matt!
So very cool to hear “Sweetest Chill” mid-Summer. Awesome!! My next request is also from Tinderbox — “not 91, or 93 … but 92 Fahrenheit degrees” …
92 Degrees // Siouxsie & the Banshees
Cheers!
Here’s a request I’ve not heard: The Durutti Column – “Sketch For Summer”
Also, I don’t think my wife like your show, mainly because you have been responsible for the expansion of my record collection (i.e. 1919, A Certain Ratio, and Dali’s Car… to name a few)
*likes*
Hi, Matt! I’m a touch late listening to your last episode, and it was brilliant. You chose such an amazing song from Sinead O’Connor, and continued with so many other great selections.
I hope you’re enjoying your week, and I look forward to next Sunday’s show. <3
Submitting a request on behalf of the old DC heads, could a song from 9353 make the cut? Ghost or Color Anxiety would fit really well in any Dark Wave show. Thank you for considering it!
Thanks Matt! for playing my request for figures on a beach and Bauhaus another request!
Hand in glove – The Smiths
And
Rescue – Echo and the Bunnymen
