The Pixies‘ upcoming North American tour continues to expand, with the announcement today of an additional 19 dates in August and September that will find the college-rock legends co-headlining with Modest Mouse and supported by Cat Power.
The indie triple bill takes flight Aug. 20 in Asbury Park, N.J., and plays larger venues — including amphitheaters and at least one arena — through a Sept. 16 date in San Diego. That leg of the tour features two shows in New York City and two just outside of Portland, Oregon — Modest Mouse’s home base.
Tickets for all of the third-leg shows go on sale 10 a.m. local time Friday, March 31 — though some presales begin tomorrow. Visit pixiesmusic.com for full details.
The Pixies’ 2023 tour opens May 4 with a first leg that finds the band supported by Slow Pulp (and, in Denver, Pond). The second date, with openers Franz Ferdinand and Bully, begins June 8.
The band — original members Black Francis, Joey Santiago and David Lovering, plus bassist Paz Lenchantin — released the 12-song album Doggerel in September. The Tom Dalgety-produced record is the band’s eighth overall and fourth released since originally reuniting in 2004.
