The National’s New Order t-shirt
Beloved indie rockers The National will release their ninth album, First Two Pages of Frankenstein, in late April, and are previewing the record with a new song called “New Order T-Shirt.”
But along with the song, the band is selling an actual New Order T-shirt based on the classic Peter Saville-designed sleeve of the band’s 1987 compilation Substance.
The song, which you can hear below, finds Matt Berninger singing the lines:
I keep what I can of you
Split second glimpses and snapshots and sounds
You in my New Order T-shirt
Holding a cat and a glass of beer
To promote the single, The National partnered with New Order for the limited-edition T-shirt, with a portion of the proceeds going to an as-yet-unannounced charity chosen by the bands.
The shirt can be pre-ordered in white or black at shop.americanmary.com.
New Order, recently nominated to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside Joy Division, are set to play five shows in Louisiana and Texas next month, including an appearance at South By Southwest.
