The House of Love has, at long last, finally rescheduled its much-anticipated, but ultimately COVID-delayed, North American tour, announcing an 11-date run in October that will mark the band’s first concerts on this continent in 30 years.
The tour, originally planned for May 2020, now opens Oct. 13 in Philadelphia and concludes with a four-show California run that ends in Pioneertown. Some of the venues have changed from the original itinerary, and it’s four shows shorter than the planned 2020 tour.
Concerts in Jersey City, N.J., Minneapolis, Vancouver, Seattle and Portland have not been rescheduled. Instead of a second Bay Area concert in Oakland, there’s now a show in Sacramento. And stops in Detroit and Montreal have now been added, too.
On the group’s Facebook page, bandleader Guy Chadwick wrote a note to North American fans: “After many efforts to reschedule the dates, we finally feel confident enough to do so this October. Fingers crossed everyone — we hope to see how soon!”
The North American trek — to follow a just-announced U.K. tour — will feature the new HoL lineup that Chadwick announced last summer after telling fans he’d parted ways with original members Terry Bickers and Pete Evans, as well as Matt Jury, who’d been on board since the group reunited in 2003.
The new lineup will find Chadwick backed by Keith Osborne on lead guitar, Harry Osborne on bass and Hugo Degenhardt on drums. The band also has recorded a new album, though its release has not yet been announced.
The North American tour originally was announced as a 30th anniversary celebration of the band’s second proper album: 1990’s The House of Love, the so-called “Butterfly Album,” not to be confused with 1987 compilation The House of Love or 1988’s debut full-length The House of Love.
