We’ve created a Spotify playlist to accompany our just-posted Top 100 songs of 1988 readers poll results. As you can see (and hear), the playlist opens with New Order’s “Fine Time” and closes with Transvision Vamp’s “Tell That Girl To Shut Up” — with 95 more songs in between.
Once again, three of our Top 100 songs are missing from Spotify: The Mighty Lemon Drops’ “Inside Out” (#11), Michelle Shocked’s “Anchorage” (#37) and My Bloody Valentine’s “You Made Me Realise” (#18)
So here’s 6 hours and 46 minutes of classic tracks from 1988 for your streaming pleasure:

Niiiiice list! I may have to join the hipper scene and get spotify now… pleased to see Tanita – a great talent/ voice- but why no Sinead? Just curious….
Since “The Lion and the Cobra” came out in 1987, those songs weren’t eligible for the 1988 poll. But she had three on the 1987 list.
Might Lemon Drops, Michelle Shocked and My Bloody Valentine aren’t on Spotify… but they have A Guy Called Gerald? Who the heck is a Guy Called Gerald?
That is a shame about The Mighty Lemon drops, a truly underrated band
This is a request for the shoe on Sirius. “You, me and rainbows” by the Tear Garden. Yes, I know, it’s pretty long but man suck a good song. Edward kspell from LPD and Ogre on vocals.
