Cabaret Voltaire debuts ‘The Power (Of Their Knowledge)’ off first new album in 26 years

Pioneering electronic music act Cabaret Voltaire — now just co-founder Richard H. Kirk — today premiered the second song off its first new album in 26 years, an eight-song collection called Shadow of Fear that’s due to be released Nov. 20 via Mute Records.

The song “The Power (Of Their Knowledge)” — which you can hear above — follows the release of first single “Vasto” in August.

Shadow of Fear, the band’s first album since 1994’s The Conversation, is can be pre-ordered now via Amazon.com or through the band’s own online shop in a variety of different bundles.

Co-founded by Kirk, Stephen Mallinder and Chris Watson, Cabaret Voltaire originally was active between 1973 and 1994. Watson left in 1981 and Mallinder has not been involved since the group became inactive in 1994. Kirk resurrected Cabaret Voltaire in 2014 for a live performance at Berlin’s Atonal festival.

  1. Tedious and low effort.

  2. I love it.

  3. Buggy’s Dick

Nothing to write home about. Sounds pretty tired a boring. CV is not CV without SM.

  4. Though I love and have bought everything that Kirk has released over the last 25 years, I feel that Stephen Mallinder’s recent “Um Dada” is the most Cab-like release since their breakup.
