The Cure today announced the band’s first live date of 2020, a headlining slot at the Open’er Festival in Poland on the Fourth of July. But don’t expect another summer of European festivals from Robert Smith and Co. The band says this is the only one they’ll play this year.
According to a post from Smith on the band’s Facebook page, the Open’er slot is “a promised/outstanding date we were unable to play on our 2019 travels, and will be our only Euro festival of 2020.”
As for what the rest of The Cure’s 2020 touring plans look like, only time will tell. Smith continues to make noise about plans for one or more new studio albums from The Cure, but so far no announcements have been made about actual release dates or subsequent touring.
