The original lineup of indie-rock icons Dinosaur Jr is back in the studio working on the band’s fifth post-reunion album, the follow-up to 2016’s Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not, according to an Instagram post this week by bassist Lou Barlow.
Barlow, who returned to Dinosaur Jr in 2005 after a 16-year absence, posted a screenshot of a text message from the band’s manager saying “it’s fine to start broadcasting the fact that Dino is in the studio making and a new LP.” To that, Barlow added, “once th snow stops ima get down t Js and get on w/ it.”
Dinosaur Jr — singer/guitar god J Mascis, Barlow and drummer Murph — released Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not, the band’s 11th studio album, in August 2016. The album featured the singles “Tiny” and “Goin Down.” It’s not yet known when the new LP is expected to be released.
Expanded, double-disc reissues of Dinosaur Jr’s ’90s output — Green Mind, Where You Been, Without a Sound and Hand It Over — were released by Cherry Red Records in September.
