We’ve created a Spotify playlist to accompany our just-posted Top 100 songs of 1984 readers poll results. As you can see (and hear), the playlist opens with Echo & The Bunnymen’s “The Killing Moon” and closes with The Strangers’ “Skin Deep” — with 93 more songs in between.
Why not 100 songs? Well, they’re not all on Spotify. Missing tracks include the original (less-known) 1984 versions of Pet Shop Boys’ “West End Girls” and a-ha’s “Take On Me,” plus The Go-Betweens’ “Bachelor Kisses,” Thomas Dolby’s “Hyperactive!” and Eurythmics’ “Sexcrime (Nineteen Eighty-Four).”
