Alien Sex Fiend to release ‘Possessed’ — first new album in 8 years — next month

Goth-rock legends Alien Sex Fiend return next month with Possessed, their first new studio album in eight years and one that will have diehards snatching up both the CD and double-LP editions, as each carries specific mixes exclusive to that format.

The new album, due out Nov. 9, is Alien Sex Fiend’s first since 2010’s Death Trip, and marks the band’s return to the Cherry Red Records fold after more than two decades releasing music on its own imprint. The album can be pre-ordered on CD and gatefold vinyl from Cherry Red, and also will be released digitally.

Alien Sex Fiend, which grew out of the famed early-’80s Batcave scene in London, features co-founders Nik Fiend (Nick Wade) and Mrs. Fiend (Christine Wade). Cherry Red describes the new new album as “heavily dosed with ASF’s genre-defying collage of pounding beats, speaker-shredding guitars, Mrs Fiend’s mutant analogue synthesizers and the surrealist chainsaw-psychiatry of frontman Nik Fiend.”

Two of the album’s songs — “Invisible” and “Carcass” — appeared on last year’s 3-disc Alien Sex Fiend anthology,  Fiendology: A 35 Year Trip Through Fiendish History 1982-2017 A.D. and Beyond.
