Our friends at the Rockin’ the Suburbs podcast recently sat down with a man who is almost certainly the highest-ranking fan of The Replacements in the U.S. government: Tim Kaine, the U.S. senator from Virginia and former vice presidential candidate. You can now hear their conversation — and see some video of it — as co-hosts Jim Lenahan and Patrick Foster ask him about the ‘Mats and his own musical proclivities. He even breaks out his trademark harmonicas.
You can listen to the full episode below, and watch some video highlights of the interview at Kaine’s D.C. office. And why not subscribe to Rockin’ the Suburbs while you’re at it?

While I realize that my Generation X and 80’s college rock credentials are on the line here I liked, well enough, but never LOVED the Mats.
Still, I gotta say, that based on this interview with Sen. Kaine America just may have screwed itself out on the coolest VP ever.
