Rhino Records continues its series of expanded deluxe-edition reissues of the Ramones’ catalog with the arrival this fall of a 3CD/1LP edition of the punk pioneers’ fourth album, Road to Ruin, that will include two different mixes of the record, unreleased rough mixes and a full live concert.
The Road to Ruin: 40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition will be released Sept. 21, along with a newly remastered edition of the original album in a single-CD release. Both releases will be streaming.
The set includes:
- Disc 1: Remastered version of the original stereo mix of Road to Ruin, along with a new 2018 40th Anniversary Road Revisited mix by original producer Ed Stasium.
- Disc 2: More than 20 unreleased recordings, including rough mixes for every album, plus two unreleased outtakes (“I Walk Out” and “S.L.U.G.”) that weren’t finished in 1978, but were completed by Stasium for this release. Also includes the “Ramones-on-45-Mega-Mix” that was issued as a promo 12-inch during the publicity campaign for Ramones Mania.
- Disc 3: Previously unreleased recording of the band’s entire 1979 New Year’s Eve concert at the Palladium in New York City, which was broadcast on WNEW-FM. The audio is sourced from Tommy Ramone’s original cassette of the console recording.
- Disc 4: The vinyl LP features the new Stasiumn. mix of Road to Rui
The box set will be released in a limited and numbered edition of 7,500 copies worldwide, and will come in a 12×12 hardcover book that features rare photographs and artwork, and essays by Stasium, former New York Rocker writer Roy Trakin, album cover artist John Holmstrom.

“It’s a long way back to Germany…”
I really, really do want to be sedated.
Mitch Hyman, Linda Cummings and Barbara Colvin must be living quite well at this point. Shame Joey, Johnny and Dee Dee can’t say the same.. on the living part, I mean.
