Dean Wareham will step out of his ongoing Luna reunion next month to celebrate his earlier band with a one-off performance of Galaxie 500’s 1988 debut album Today in San Francisco — a concert Wareham is calling a “one time only” event. Tickets are on sale now for the July concert.

Rumors have circulated since early this year that the title track to The Smiths’ 1986 album The Queen is Dead would receive a new 12-inch vinyl single release — and they appear to have been substantiated today by Morrissey’s longtime guitarist Boz Boorer through a photo he posted to Facebook.

Rhino Records next month will mark the 40th anniverary of the Ramones’ classic 1977 sophomore album Leave Home with a deluxe 3CD/1LP reissue of the record that includes a remastering of the original album and a brand-new mix by original engineer Ed Stasium, as well a heap of previously unreleased bonus material.

The Oakland, Calif.-based label Sell the Heart Records has just released a two-part, 21-song collection of Fugazi covers by California indie acts including No Knife, Warsaw, Great Apes, theSTART, Long Knifes, Identical Homes, My Last Line and more. Stream the whole thing here.

For this week’s installment of Vintage Video, we present this red-hot Bob Mould set from Athens, Ga., on 1990’s Black Sheets of Rain tour. Mould’s playing with his solo band and gets an assist on guitar from R.E.M.’s Peter Buck on a cover of Neil Young’s “Cinnamon Girl.”

Mark E. Smith will bring the current iteration of The Fall to America this September for the band’s first U.S. dates in more than 11 years: a five-night residency in Brooklyn followed by a headlining appearance at the Cropped Out Festival in Louisville, Ky. See the band’s full tour dates here.

Industrial-dance favorites My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult will celebrate their 30th anniversary this fall with with a new single and a tour that’ll feature performances of their first two albums — 1988’s I See Good Spirits and I See Bad Spirits and 1990’s Confessions of a Knife — each night.

Original bassist Mike Mesaros is back in The Smithereens fold after a dozen years away, and, in addition to playing sporadic shows with the college-rock graduates, he’ll be on the new album the band is recording and which will be the group’s first in six years. Plus, watch a recent 3-hour set.
