Depeche Mode today announced that the group has been forced to cancel Wednesday night’s scheduled concert at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheater in Tampa, Fla., due to the impacts of Hurricane Irma, which wreaked havoc across Florida over the weekend.
The group, in a statement posted to is website, said “our hope is that we will be able to maintain our show (in) Miami on Friday,” though that remains to be seen depending on cleanup and recovery in the area.
Fans with tickets to the Tampa show can obtain refunds at the point of purchase.
DM’s full statement:
We’re disappointed to announce that due to the impact of Hurricane Irma on Tampa, we have been forced to cancel the September 13 show at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheater. With our partners at Live Nation, we have looked at all options available to avoid cancelling the show, including moving the show to an alternate venue, but at this time we cannot guarantee a venue that will be ready and adequately staffed for a safe and successful show, so we have no choice but to cancel. We apologize to all fans who were planning on attending the Tampa show and we send our thoughts for a quick recovery to the people of Tampa and all of Florida.
Our hope is that we will be able to maintain our show Miami on Friday, and we will make another announcement later this week as the cleanup and recovery continues in Miami and the feasibility of the show is better known.
If you are holding tickets for the cancelled Tampa show, refunds are available at the point of purchase.
