After a slight detour late last week, we’re back on track with the weekly dribbling of previously unreleased versions of tracks off The Smiths’ classic 1986 The Queen is Dead album. We’re now up to “The Boy With the Thorn in His Side,” which you can stream below in the form of a never-before-released recording from the band’s concert at McAlister Auditorium in New Orleans on Sept. 8, 1986.
That track, like its weekly predecessors (see links below), won’t be included in the upcoming 3CD/1DVD reissue of The Queen is Dead. But the band’s label did release one of the tracks that will appear on the Live in Boston bonus disc last week: a 4-minute medley “Rubber Ring/What She Said/Rubber Ring.”
Below, check out the new (old) version of “The Boy With the Thorn in His Side.”
