Luna — Dean Wareham’s reunited post-Galaxie 500 dreampop act — today debuted a Rose McGowan-starring video for its new cover of The Cure’s “Fire in Cairo,” which will appear on its new covers album A Sentimental Education, due out next month.

On Sept. 22, Luna will release both the 10-song A Sentimental Education and a 6-song instrumental EP titled A Place of Greater Safety. Both were produced by Jason Quever and recorded in Los Angeles by the reunited Luna lineup of Wareham, Sean Eden, Lee Wall and Britta Phillips.
In addition to “Fire in Cairo,” the covers album features new recordings of David Bowie’s “Letter to Hermione,” Mercury Rev’s “Carwash Hair,” Bob Dylan’s “Most of the Time” and more. The first single, a cover of the 1970 Fleetwood Mac song “One Together,” was released in June.
Of the “Fire in Cairo” cover, Wareham says in a press release:
“Those first three albums by The Cure made a big impression on me as a teenager and ‘Fire in Cairo’ is one of the first songs I learned when I started playing guitar.”
