Ramones’ ‘Leave Home’ to receive deluxe 4-disc anniversary reissue with new mix

Rhino Records next month will mark the 40th anniverary of the Ramones’ classic 1977 sophomore album Leave Home with a deluxe 3CD/1LP reissue of the record that includes a remastering of the original album and a brand-new mix by original engineer Ed Stasium, as well a heap of previously unreleased bonus material, including a live set recorded at CBGB’s.

The Leave Home: 40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition is due out July 14, and is avaiable for pre-order now. The newly remastered original album also will be released as a single CD, and both that and the full deluxe edition will be available as digital downloads and via streaming.

The deluxe edition, a numbered edition of 15,000 copies worldwide, will be packaged in a 12×12 hardcover book that will feature stories about the band by ex-manager Danny Fields, as told to music writer Michael Azerrad, plus details about the making of Leave Home by Stasium.

A full breakdown of the set:

Disc 1: The first disc features the two different mixes of Leave Home, first a remastered version of the original stereo mix, then the new mix created by Stasium from the original multi-track tapes.

Disc 2: The second discs features 33 tracks, most of which are previously unreleased, including the rough mixes for the original album, as well as alternate mixes and instrumentals.

Disc 3: The third disc features a previously unreleased recording of the Ramones at CBGB’s on April 2, 1977. The concert includes hits and the rarely performed “Babysitter.”

Disc 4: The fourth disc is an LP, and features the new 40th anniversary mix on two sides of vinyl.
