The Afghan Whigs will release their second post-reunion album, In Spades, on May 5 on Sub Pop Records, and today gave fans their second taste of the record with the release of “Arabian Height,” which you can stream in its entirety below.
The single, which follows the video release of “Demon in Profile” last month, is one of 10 tracks that will appear on the new album, the follow-up to 2014’s Do To the Beast, and the Whigs’ 8th overall. In Spades was written and produced by Whigs frontman Greg Dulli.
Of the new song, Dulli points to its tribal rhythmic cadence, saluting drummer Patrick Keeler in a statement announcing the single: “Rick (Nelson, who engineered the album( got incredible drum sounds, and what Patrick does on that song is a master class in drumming.”
The Whigs are playing the Apollo in Harlem, N.Y., on May 23 before heading out on a European summer tour. No further U.S. dates have yet been announced.
